COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of our nationís most regal structures, the Empire State Building features 200,000 cubic feet of Indiana limestone and granite. For this historic construction project the Empire Quarry in Lawrence County was specially chosen to be the sole source of the stately stone.

In tribute we present our bold Empire Imperial Stout, black as night and pouring with a thick tan head. It starts with an espresso-like, malt flavor and finishes smooth and slightly sweet from the addition of molasses in the brewing processs. Like standing at the top of a 102-story skyscraper, Empire is rewarding but not for the faint of heart.

Pours an opaque black with almost no head. A bit of lacing down the glass. Smells heavily of chocolate with a little bit of sweetness from the molasses Iím presuming. Not a whole lot of complexity in the nose, but nothing bad here either. Very thick and syrupy initial sweetness rounding into a profile heavily featuring roasty malts. Very chocolately throughout with a little bit of a coffee/roast finish along with a little bit of booze. Good balance between the roast and malt overall. Nice and creamy. Carbonation level is a tad high for the style, but not a detriment. Medium-thick without being cloying. Alcohol burn is slightly present, but pretty well masked for the ABV. I havenít especially liked anything from this brewery before, but I can say this is a very solid beer. Not world class, but a very good smooth and creamy stout Iíd be happy to drink anytime Iím the mood for something heavier. The price point is a bit high for a new brewery trying to establish itself, but this a flagship beer so get these out to the masses.

Growler from the brewery. Pours black with a thin ring of head around the glass. The aroma is hot with alcohol, chocoate, and cherry notes. Roasted malt, bakerís chocolate, cocoa, cherry, and espresso flavors with a warming alcohol burn. Smooth mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. The finish is bitter chocoate. Nice warming stout on a cool evening.

Nitro draft to taster. Looks good for the style; settles into a dark cola with creamy light beige nitro lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, dark chocolate, and some roast. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer.

Pours a jet black with a line of brown head. Nose and taste are a bit leathy, earthy, a bit of toffee & coffee. Not exceptional, but certainly above average. At $4.50 a 12 oz I was hoping it would be a bit more memorable.

Typical imperial stout appearance. Pitch black with small, chocolatey head. Slight lacing. Nose is espresso, roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, vanilla and clove. Mouth is delicious. Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol and vanilla. Very bitter. An awesome imperial stout.

Beer tasting great beer best from cutters. Thick, sweet, but a balanced taste and finish. Would like to pair this beer at some point

12 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours very dark brown/black with maybe a half inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. However, there is a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, molasses, espresso, and bittersweet chocolate. The taste is sweeter than I expected since the aroma was more roasty and bitter, it tastes like molasses, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and espresso. Thereís a slight roasty bitter coffee finish, but the sweet flavors linger around longer. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit coating and creamy with low carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, I wouldnít mind picking up another bottle of this and also trying some of Cutters other brews at some point.

12oz bottle thanks to Brigadier, pours black with a thin light brown head, aroma has quite a bit of chocolate with just a little bit of coffee mixed in as well, the flavor has a nice roasty front end with a little bit of toffee as well, mouthfeel is pretty thick and nice, not bad at all.

Bottle. (Not totally sure if this is the right beer, mine said Bourbon barrel aged and black wax) Pours a dead still flat black. Aroma of milk chocolate through and through. Taste is more milk chocolate, slight toffee, barrel and vanilla. Mouth feel is really good for a flat beer.

Pours black in color with a small off-white head. Really roasty and smokey nose. A bit savory/meaty. Some earthy hops, a lot of licorice, and a bit of soy sauce. Not much in the way of sweetness. The flavor is quite heavy on the roast, ash, and smoke. A touch of molasses sweetness, licorice, some char, and a bit of earth. Moderately bitter and slightly acidic.
