Bottle shared at Ryan’s sour tasting. I hate to plagiarize, so instead I will refer you to sfhodense’s rating just below. It’s spot on......

15/10/2010 75cl bottle @ De Ranke presentation at Gentse Biervereniging

Cloudy red to orange beer, white head that dissipates fast. Aroma: clearly bretta yeasts, somewhat musty, orange peal. MF is somewhat flat, full body though. Taste is soft sour, green apple, citrus and grape fruit. Aftertaste has lime and oranges. Well, I’m a sucker for sour ales and this mixture with Girardin sure does the trick for me.

Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - OCT 11, 2010
Serving: 750 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors.
Aroma: The nose has a nice tart note with a slight floral undercurrent. A little cider, hay, and horse blanket emerge as the brew warms up a bit.
Appearance: It pours a nice gold color with a sizeable foamy white head.
Taste: The flavor is clean with the expected upfront acidity followed by light hay and an almost chardonnay like taste. There is a touch of light sweetness on the back end.
Palate: Light in body with above average levels of carbonation and a nice, clean finish.
Overall: A great example of the style, extremely well balanced and highly recommended!
