THIS is why I drink beer!!!!! Clear gold, a nice column of carbonation leads to a fluffy white head in my ommegang glass. Nose is lemon pits, lavendar, slight oxidation (fades w. time), tingly grapefruit juice all bound together by hay-like malt. Flavor is much less acidic than the nose implies. There is certainly some nice lemony acidity but that is tempered by pils malt, grapefruit, general funk, grapes. Finish is lemon pit & white grapes, unripe yellow plums. Understated, smooth & wonderful.

Aroma is bright with lemon zest and juices, bitter, piny hops, earth, dust, and cheese. Taste is dusty old hops, intense lemon rind, cheese,a bit of band-aid/gauze, and lemon juice. I also get an underlying crisp biscuit base. Finish is sour, slightly bitter, and refreshing. Very good! Bottle consumed best before 2013 (consumed 2010)

Clear amber pour with generous carbonation. Sour apple taste with slight malt finish. Would probably be even better aged a few years. Rated 4/16/10

750mL bottle shared by cquiroga, thanks Chris. Bottled July 2007. Clear medium orange with a small off-white head, fading to a ring. Leathery grapefruit rind leathery cork (thanks Chris) nose. Flavor not quite as sour as the nose, though still plenty of leather and cork. Light sweetness--very light. Bone dry with some light grapefruit rind and yeastiness. Sourness peaked at a 6, bitterness at a 2, light alcohol burn. Light carbonation with a light to medium body.

Pours a hazy orange color with a nice white head. Very funky aroma with green apples, unripe gooseberries, lemon light oak and barnyard. Flavour is very sour and dry with lots of lemon, green apples, gooseberries, oak and funk. Medium bodied with a quite lively carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle purchased at Blacklick Wine & Spirits after a friend told me this was the best beer he drank in 2009. Pour is cloudy orange and the head is a medium off-white. Funky nose with plenty of citrus (orange and lemon) notes. Sweet orange flavor up front with a sour and funky lemon finish. Tasty.

Bottle. Fruity, sour, sweet, woody, very barnyardy, huge bitterness for this kind of beer. A VERYcomplex beer, that I think would develope in the cellar.

750 ml bottle from the Charleston Beer Exchange (Really nice sour selection). This part of my exploration it the new (for me) frontier wild fermented (funky and/or sour) beers. This one is really solid. Creamy head that dissipates reasonably quickly. Very nice palate and it looks beautiful (I love unfiltered beer). It tastes great, very sour. Hints of cherry, apple, and barrell! This is not your monk’s cafe, it a very sour beer, but delicious! Aroma is little funky minimal. Overall this is a sour beer but it is not a funky beer, it is not barnyard or cheesy (which I love, my fav. brett beers are funky).
