On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Hazy orange brown, with a relatively small tight head. Definite whiff of untouched attic, cobwebs. Some crunch from the sourness towards the end. Not sure the blend really helped here, kind of ended up as a half way house. Definitely not the length of finish or depth as the Cantillon Lambic I’d had before. Nice to drink but I think I’d rather have one of De Ranke’s excellent ales and a gueuze separately.

Aged one year in bottle. Pours a hazy burnt straw colour with a ton of off white head, dense but subsides easily. A steady carbonation stream in the body. The nose is addictive and multi faceted. Woody, funky, earthy and leafy notes are first apparent then the citrus and fruit come in with lemon zest, orange and grapefruit making an appearance with a candied wheat malt.Quite sweet up front with a balancing bitterness and funky earth note. Leather and horse blanket galore with mild tannic notes, stone fruit and dried apricots. Toasted caramel and grainy notes blend in well with the fruits. Sweet and sour with funky barrel notes, musty earth and floral notes. Too complex to note on.

Draft at Zwevegems Bierfestival. You can easily recognise the awesome Girardin in here. Lemon, little sour, lemon acid-like, nice!

(On tap @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, July 27 2015) Pours hazy orange gold with a dense lingering off white head, very lacy. Aroma has a sweet bready Belgian strong core with soft caramel, citrus, fruity esters with some peach, but also a grassy hop character. Lambic gives a fair helping of barnyard, and some oak. Flavour is tart and citrusy despite the sweeter malt core. Grapefruit, lactic to begin. Becomes very dry by the finish however with a big buildup of fresh oak planks, hop bitterness, dry leaves and musty Brett. Medium bodied with high effervescent carb. Cool blend of flavours with malt, hops and lambic funk. Better than expected, this was a really nice one.

750 ml bottle at home from notes. Pours a hazy orange golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have tart/sour citrus, funk, yogurt, lemon, oak, some acidity, effervescent mouthfeel, solid brew that meets the sour need while still being very easy to drink.

Bottle. Pours golden, with a creamy head. Aroma is tart fruity brett, with notes of oak and a nice funkiness. Full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart brett and oak, with funky notes of crisp rhubarb and red currants giving a lingering sour, berry finish.
