750 ml bottle from the Charleston Beer Exchange (Really nice sour selection). This part of my exploration it the new (for me) frontier wild fermented (funky and/or sour) beers. This one is really solid. Creamy head that dissipates reasonably quickly. Very nice palate and it looks beautiful (I love unfiltered beer). It tastes great, very sour. Hints of cherry, apple, and barrell! This is not your monk’s cafe, it a very sour beer, but delicious! Aroma is little funky minimal. Overall this is a sour beer but it is not a funky beer, it is not barnyard or cheesy (which I love, my fav. brett beers are funky).

1.5 year old 750ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange colour with small white head. Aroma is pure gueuze funk, a sharp sour, green apples and freshly cut grass. Taste is sour, dry, musty, barnyard but also very fruity, lots of apple, lemon and raspberries. Complex bouquet, it’s a pure pleasure to sip it. Sourness is very elegant and balanced, a lot more well-behaved than the intensly sour Girardin that is used to create Cuvée De Ranke is. This is a great beer to ease someone into the sour world of Lambics. Medium carbonation. Highly drinkable since it’s not as mouth-puckering as a pure Gueuze. Simply delicious. A masterpiece!

Hazy orange blond beer with small white head on top. Unripe green berries, some herbs and wood in the aroma. Taste is quite sour with citrus and lime, touches of wood . Some caramel, mostly lemon juice aroma. Tart and juicy, dry finish. Lots of citrus peel. Little chewy wood.

Some beers have the perfect description to pull you in. This is one of them. It poured a very nice orange in color with moderate turbidity and a half finger off white head. It almost smells like a gueuze yet also has a light sweetness to it. All I can really get from it is peaches, apricots, and fruit juice. It’s very appealing on the nose. The flavors are surprisingly VERY sour and tart. I expected it to be sour, just not this much. It’s very impressive. It is straight fermented sour peaches and apricots. It has a dry and almost bitter finish which is the only detractor but it drinks really well. To me, this drinks like a medium bodied gueuze with more carbonation than average. I really enjoyed this one, it’s a very nice beer.

Courtesy of Secret Santa Summer ’08 (a.k.a. pepsican). Amber pour with 1-finger head, good lacing, tartness present immediately, a bit of a sour finish. Tastes much like a scaled-down version of De Dolle Oerbier Reserva (one of my favorites), also as if it was aged in a wine barrel or something. Clean finish, very balanced. Most sours I can only drink one or two, I could probably drink this all day (especially in the summer). Awesome beer, would love to get some more of this. Thanks Santa!

Big bottle from GBBF. Now this is a beer. It’s basically Rodenbach "Vin De Cereale" only, you can find it. Slightly hazy pour but an absolutely cracking Flemish-sour taste with rich-tea biscuits and conflakes for afters.

Poored a rich light amber with almost no head. Tart aroma of sour apple and slightly floral. Flavor was awesome. Very smooth sourness with a hint of oak. Wish I had more.

Bello il colore, giallo oro carico, con una schiuma bianca e abbastanza persistente. Gli aromi sembrano quelli tipici di un lambic. All’assaggio invece risulta ben più "morbida". Nel finale lascia un piacevolissimo amaro. Ottima.
