from crackedkettle.com - pours a cloudy dark orange colour under a little and persistent slightly beige foam; solid aroma of vinegar, horse blanket and fruits (peach and apple); good malt body, quite rounded and with a robust sourness, quite dry with a long lasting sourness and lot of fruity tones - marvelous !

Bottle. Poured a clear golden color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour flavor with a medium to heavy sour & sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style.

Bottle: Golden to copper coloured, hazy, mid-sized loose white head; solid bretty and woody nose with a pale-malty background; solid dry sourish-bitter flavour, medium bodied, tart MF; solid tart-fruity finish with both a slight bitterness and sweetness in the aftertaste. Good, good, good......

UPDATED: APR 16, 2008 A Mes rate: Draught at ZBF and bottled on many other occasions.
Surprisingly sweet smelling. Smells like a slightly bitter cream soda, with one of the worlds best lambics in it. Very hoppy in the mouth, a full on aromatic assault. Finish is dry and very slightly sour which settles down to such an amazingly strong and almost wheaty end leaving notes of one of the worlds best lambics. Lots of hazelnut in the flavour and something faintly ginger about it topped off with one of the worlds best lambics. Highly unusual and the more I drink of this the more they seem to be perfecting the blend.

Girardin and De Ranke, a match made in heaven.

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 19, 2011
Saurer, sehr frischer Geruch. Test vom 11.3.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 8,9,9,11,-,9 - 9,21

Thanks to beastiefan2k for bringing this bottle out. Deep orange beer. Lovely rich aroma. Soft spiciness over a lightly tart base. Citrusy nose with lots of lemon and a kiss of orange. Some soft cherry fruitiness and a little bit of balsamic sweetness as well. Earthy and brettified. Nice.

Bottle sampled on 6/3/08: Pours a slightly hazy orange bronze with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh semi-sweet pale malts and light tart fruits and mild oak. Body starts fairly full with good carbonation, light malty sweetness and good cheesy leathery dry tart complexity toward the finish. A nice beer with great tart balance.

Brewer warned it to be actually not ripened enough, but wanted to present it on the ZBFestival already Flocky disparate "chaam"-like head over fully hazy brownish beer. Sourish nose with a speculoos background, but blended perfectly wood notes, woodstainer, lemon. Speculoos flavour again, old wood, sweet worts, aged beer. Slightly tart, bit of lactic acid, hints at milkchocolate, liquorice. Full bodied, slick but not heavy. Aftertaste is wry wood. I’ve never had a beer that managed to taste young and aged at the same time - this is it! Very good try indeed. Check this one out.
