Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2011
Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a stemless wine glass. The beer pours a light copper color, with essentially no head. Notes of leather, "sweaty horse blanket," and the countryside during Spring come through in the aroma. To call it "appetizing" would be the equivalent of calling Luther "vaguely significant." The palate shows a bit of spritz up front, before a moderate sourness, more of the aforesaid Brettanomyces characteristics, light fruit notes, a slight bitterness, and a touch of lemon come through. The palate is bone dry and mouthfeel is just right. Mouthfeel is perhaps just slightly filled out by a bit of residual Pediococcus character, but it is by no means ropy. The finish is dry, lightly tart, and lightly leathery. Overall, absolutely wonderful; seemingly the earthly form of what "cuvee" should mean.

Pours amber with a small head. Nose shows elderflower, funky barnyard notes, light malt, unripe plums. Lovely. Flavours focus on a delicious tartness, a little oak, light elderflower and lemon rind.

An very intense sour beer, with a dry aftertaste. The only tiny disappointment is that the taste promises more than the whole taste delivers (the taste flattens out a bit after the first sip). Still an incredible great beer.

Cloudy orange color with nice foam. Very dry funkiness. Stables. Very dry! Taste is lambic-like, citrusy, very dry finish. Nearly feels as like you have dust on your tongue. Nice sour finish. Light-bodied, good carbonation. Great!

Mortlach (1005) - Rome, ITALY - NOV 30, 2014
On tap @ Bir&Fud (Rome).

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours muddy orange with a lively white head. Aroma of damp wood, citrus peel, lemon biscuits, lots of lactic acidity, hay. Flavours are lemon dominant, quite minerally with a very dry and acidic-sour finish. Lots of interplay between tart and earthy, woody funk. Good value beer.

Bottle from Mane Liquor split with Rich and Jackson. A lively one. Pours murky orange with a big and billowing white cap on top. Nose is quite fresh and fruit driven with loads of zest and funk - very citric. Taste is fresh and zesty with moderate funk. Loaded with lemon and lime with a nice grassiness to it. Very dry. Tasty stuff
