UPDATED: SEP 30, 2012 750mL bottle from Cellier des Arcades. Pours your standard hazy straw gold with a lot of white head. Aroma is a nice blend of yeast and hops, more so the yeast. Flavour is a lot of yeast upfront with a hop bite near the finish and lingering pale malty aspects on the palate. Good hops for the style (which the bottle claims to be Abbey Tripel), but nothing overly impressive. Lacks the harshness of a lot of other Tripels, but still with a little boozyness to it.

The pour is a pale golden color with a white head. Straw, apple, and pear are the first aromas to hit the nose. Lots of biscuit malt and a light sugar sweetness. Some mild spice and yeast notes with a light floral and earthy hoppiness. The flavor is a bit saison-like. Light malt character with some sugar sweetness, a touch dry on the finish. Lots of apple and pear fruitiness with notes of straw and grass. Some light hop character on the back end and a nice high carbonation.

Bottle via SL.. Looks and smells like a saison... Light golden orange color, with a big head that faded quickly. Nose of spices, fruity notes and grassy. Taste is a simple belgian... Kind of saison like. Dry, earthy, spices, fruity and yeast flavor. Not bad. Medium body, medium to high carbonation level. Easy to drink. Overall: Good stuff but nothing to go out of your way for.

Slayer85 (1051) - Firenze, ITALY - JUL 4, 2012
750 ml corked bottle (7,5% ABV), An only lightly hazy pale yellow beer, with a large, fizzy/frothy, lightly lacing, mostly diminishing white head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (bread, toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, apricot, lemon), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough, hint of sweat), with notes of oranges, pears, hint of spices. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, short finish with moderate bitterness, lightly unpleasant/unclean/unrefined. Nice aroma and reasonable look, but it disappoints in the other aspects, especially the palate, which is rough, thin and overcarbonated. And it’s not a proper tripel, contrary to what the label says. Overall drinkable, but easily forgettable.

Pours hazy golden yellow with a small white. Nose is more hoppy smelling than I expected. Pine notes. Belgian candy sugar. Taste is sweet that just barely hits bitter. It's watered down a bit. Mouthfeel is soft with a small bite in the middle. Average aftertaste and light body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
