Barreras (1176) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - JAN 27, 2015
Pours a clear light yellow color with a light fruit aroma. This beer is very light drinking with notes of honey, biscuit, and citrus fruit. Surprisingly the alcohol content is hidden well, with even a light floral aftertaste that dissipates rather quickly.

weordie (235) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JAN 24, 2015
Pours amber with a thin white head. Aroma of honey, a nice heather honey. Taste is like a thick honey drink, not mead but a hot toddy in a beer. It’s delicious and not at all what i expected.

I’ve tasted this years ago but apparently haven’t rated it yet so I decided to buy a bottle for revisiting. First brewed at one of the Brasse-Temps beer pubs owned by Dubuisson and now made at Dubuisson’s own premises in Pipaix, this beer is a kind of ’light’ version of the famed Dubuisson ales; in this particular case, a bet is involved, as the front label invites me "let’s play", meaning I have to pull off the label to take knowledge of the punishment the brewery lays upon me if I fail to win the bet. The punishment, written bilingually on the backside of the label, reads "hug the bartender", so it is a fortunate twist of fate I am tasting this at home, without any bartender being present. As for the beer itself: medium thick but quickly thinning and opening, yellowish white, moussy head, lightly hazy golden blonde colour with calm fizz; aroma of apricot, iron, honey, industrially made cookies, powder sugar, faint echo of lavender shampoo, apple sauce, dried orange peel, an unpleasant hint of urine (excusez le mot), sweet white wine of inferior quality (the kind served in pubs here), mango, dull graininess, old cake, ’melon jenever’ and the unmistakable ’cooked’ pasteurization smell I tend to detest (there seems to be an unpasteurized version available at the brewery - see if the taste of this beer can convince me to seek this out...). Taste begins with a restrained, sweetish fruitiness, fairly strong and minerally carbonation, white candi sugar syrup sweetness, honeyish, dull sourish accent, mellow, pale malt sweetness with a somewhat metallic ’sound’, sugary sweetness (though subtle) cloys to the teeth a bit; finish is primarily the same (boring) malt sweetness, the iron again and some herbal, only VERY slightly bittering hops which stand no chance against the sugary violence - as well as warming, ’jenever’-like alcohol, fortunately managing not to become wry. In all, and this only confirms my prejudice: boring, bland, artificial and far removed from Dubuisson’s Bush brand, which consists only of pieces of art and a few lesser gods. I find no Dubuisson quality stamp in this one. And no, I still do not feel inclined to "hug a bartender", though I may be convinced if it is a fair and female specimen. I knew it: if a beer needs a ’non-beery’ gimmick to enhance sales, something is wrong. Case closed.

[Tap] Deep yellow colored pour with a fizzy white head on top. Nose of Belgian yeast, light fruits, mild zest and light vanilla. Flavors include apricot, apple, oranges, yeasty spice, cereal grains and mild hops. Lively carbonation. Light in body with citrus notes taking hold in the finish.

A average beer,, drinkable but nothing more. I felt the nose was quite flowery and taste was OK. Not much to ad...
