Had this at the Pittsburgh Great European Beer Festival at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium 6/2010. Slight haze on a pale lager eye. Smell is just plain good beery. Rather mild initially for a beer called troll. Suddenly, it evolves into a stronger sensation. Easy finish. Some hay in the background. Plastic linger. As with most refined belgies, this stuff hides its alky well.

On tap at Bieeard in Amsterdam. Pours golden blond with foamy head. Belgian blond ale taste with a heavy cheese aroma. Also has aromas of corriander and spice. Taste is lightly acidic and moderately sweet. Different if not decent.

Aroma of honey, coriander and lemongrass. Appearance of translucent gold with white head. Flavor matches the nose, but with a little banana. Palate is bubbly and creamy with a dry finish. A decent representative of the style.

Bottle at home. Clear golden pour with floaties and w thin white head. Aroma of sweet malts, some spices, alcohol and a bit of a chemical hint. Flavor is malty sweet with some spices and sugar. A faint hint of bitterness in the finish. Quite boring and a little too sweet. Creamy texture and above average carbonation.

Smells and looks like a champagne and even has the same dry quality. Kinda weird. Not very good overall but it looks and smells great.

On-tap at the Paters Vaetje in Antwerp, Belgium... A lightly hazy but bright yellow color with a thinnish white head. An earthy, yeastiness in the nose, a hint of herbal hops and some sweetish pale malt. There is a fairly earthy quality to this blond ale but that’s where the distinctiveness ends. Herbal hops but overall a quite sweet blond. Medium bodied with a sweetish aftertaste. Nothing earthshattering but it was an enjoyable and drinkable brew. Worth a shot if you can find it on draft.

A refreshing ale with a nice acidic hoppiness. Cloudy appearance. Average.

Golden color with a decent white head that dissapated quickly. Not much of an aroma or flavor. Slight citrus, slight hops, whole lot of nothing else. Very dull. So disappointing as my wife bought me a glass from this brewer years ago and it is by far my favorite glass! I brought the bottle home from Belgium so that I could drink it out of the proper glass, and it just plain stinks! Don’t know if I’ve ever been more disappointed in a beer.

Pours a clear darkyellow beer, fine white head that dissapates quickly. Smells like caramel and orangepeal, some citrus. Pleasant mouthfeeling with lots of carbon gas. First a sweetsour taste that is immediately replaced by a spicy hoppy bitter and the taste of bread. Aftertaste is very hoppy and dry with touches of citrus again.

Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium this beer poured a dark golden color with a huge white head that produced great lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar, strong pear and undertones of apple, yeasty and a light mustiness. The flavor was candied pears, tangy malts and light yeastiness. The finish was medium length sweet, tangy and fruity. Full body. Nice.
