MrManning (2003) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 8, 2006
Bottle at Chaucer’s Pub in London, Ont- A hazy yellow pour is capped with a thick finger of bleached white head, that leaves moderate lace. Aromas are faint, but balanced. Spicy, slight floral, some bread, grass, and hops. A mild bite of spices and fruit enter the mouth. Mild bready flavours, with some sweetness, and mild alcohol. Soft carbonation, an easy drinker considering the ABV. Probably a touch under-rated IMO. Thanks for getting this one in Milos!

Hazy yellow with a large and moderately lasting head. Sticky sweet rock candy smell, along with some alcohol - a bit too present. More bitter than expected, which was good because that stopped it from falling into the overly sweet BSA category. The palate was pretty weak, however, with little depth. Unfortunately the more I drank this beer the less I enjoyed it, so lucky it was only 250mL otherwise it would have lost a few more points!!

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2006 Recommended by John at Smoless Joe in Toronto after I tried all their Tripples. A great recommendation. Served in a frosted Cuvee des Trolls glass that made the appearance impossible to rate. I did see a thin head that faded quick leaving a few islands. The name bottle and glass were great, I loved the design. Definate fruit in the scent and some strong hops. Very warm taste with a lot of fruit and some complex spice. Very nice.

250ml brown bottle, shared with gilvanblight @ Smokeless Joe, Toronto. Gold pour, light head, white in colour. Sweet malt aroma, light alcohol note. Sweet malt flavour, a bit of wheat. Lingering alcohol taste.

Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2006
Bottle (from Bitter Virtue). Pale colour. Pear alcohol, spicy (pepper and coriander) with a hint of sweet malt from the aroma. Fairly sweet with a tart bubbly spritz and light hop finish. The flavour has a slight herbal anise like touch. I quite enjoyed this although it might have been better with bolder flavours - it had a slight tendency to an insipid lagerish body.

A faint, undefinable fruity nose with a touch of sweet malt emanates from this yellow, modestly headed ale. Yeast and light malt dominate the taste, the fruits fading into the background. The finish is sweet and dry. Easy to drink, but a bit of a disappointment from a brewer that has pleased me so much in the past.

275ml bottle at Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. Golden, lasting white head. Creamy hop aroma. Nice and yeasty in mouth with some golden syrup. Sweetish alcohol runs into the finish that has delicate hop. Just about makes the balanc between sweetness and drying hop finish. Slightly too sweet for me. Still, a nice Belgian golden beer

Bottle from Beers of Europe. I seem to have enjoyed this beer more than most. Blond with persistant creamy head (in my Bush glass). Good fruity aroma reminiscent of a saison - peach, gooseberry, little bit of spice, sweet pastry, some yeast, little bit of alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel and fruity finish. Enjoyable stuff.

Bottled. Clear yellow coloured with a small white head. Aroma of fruits, malts and alcohol. Sweet flavour of fruits, honey and malts with notes of alcohol.

Lightly spicy, woody, malt forward, leafy aroma. Hazy, yellow white body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, white head that recedes rapidly to cover with some lace. Sweet and fruity flavour is somewhat bland with leafy hops, mild bitterness and some obvious alcohol. Medium body with somewhat low carbonation and mild alcohol warming. Bottle sampled at Den Tatoverede Enke in Copenhagen.
