kratbox (7), Wales does not count Dec 16, 2004 Good bottled, dangerously drinkable in the local pubs with it on tap (and dangerously cheap at that). Strong malt base but with just the right amount of hops to balance it out KnutAlbert (2165), Oslo, Norway Sep 1, 2007 This must be the best of the batch of British bitters to reach Norway recently. A proper interplay betwwen hops and malt, sweet and bitter, full tasting, yet easy drinking. Now, with a lower price, I would not mind sipping this the whole evening. JoeMcPhee (3671), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 15, 2006 A trans-Atlantic wedding gift from geth_in_beer... many thanks. Deep amber beer, tight creamy white head. Earthy, perfumy aroma, with herbal and lightly tobaccoish notes. Caramelly UK malts, light toffee and a bit of leather as well. Lovely flavour, medium bodied with some soft nuttiness and caramelly malts. Tobaccoish herbal hop finish. Soft bodied and lightly bitter finish. A lovely earthy bitter. Gr0ve (1088), Oslo, Norway Dec 6, 2007 500 ml bottle. Copper colour. Clear. Tall white fine-laced head. Crisp and grainy nutty aroma. Flavour is powdery with a strong grainy taste. Earthy hops. Smooth texture with a clean hop bitterness towards the end. Very mellow and really nice. Definitely a session beer. Sigmund (1900), Hafrsfjord, Norway Jul 20, 2007 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Labeled "real ale in a bottle", so probably NOT pasteurised. ABV is 4.2%. Amber to copper colour, large off-white head. Pleasant fruity aroma, notes of red berries, hints of oak and spices. The flavour is fairly malty with a touch of caramel. Moderate hops. Easy drinking.
