Warning! Early amateur rating! Very drinkable porter, nice fruitiness from the plums. Trace of smoky malt.

Bottle 500ml.
Clear dark red amber color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, moderate caramel, plum, coffee notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration, coffee - roasted bitter, light peppery finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100102]

bottle, Tesco Pont-y-pŵl. Deep dark brown, nearly black colour with a creamy beige head. Malty, hints of caramel, chocolate and toffee as well as very shy but pleasant plum flavours. A delicious porter, ideal to accompany my Scotch egg and Wiltshire ham.

No head another one that looks like flat coke but this time with a slight purple hint. Very fruity aroma with malt coming through. Not much flavour but more coffee than plum. Has a slightly malty aftertaste. Abit disappointing.

500ml bottle @ Cardinal. Dark red/brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet fruity, roasted malt, prunes and raisin. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, slightly roasted, dry fruit and a hint of coffee. Impressive at this low abv, like it a lot.

Bottle, at Cardinal. Clear, deep mahogany-colored body, topped by a minimal beige head. Coffee, burnt malt, ripe red plums, dried fruits (prunes?), and a sweetish touch in the aroma. The flavor is quite umami-ish, with burnt malt and plums fullfilling it. It finishes off with a burnt, slightly fruity hoppiness. Medium to thin body. A pleasant, quaffable beer, somewhat odd, but nice. It would be interesting with a more juiced-up version of this one. (070623)

500 ml bottle. Ruby red colour. Crystal clear. Medium beige mixed lace head. Rich plummy münchener malt aroma. Smooth texture. Nutty maltiness with a hint of roasted flavours. Gentle bitterness that lingers towards the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. Reminds me of a Norwegian Christmas beer.

Black/brown plum porter with a nice head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee and plums. The flavour is mild and not very strong. I find notes of plum, roasted malt, caramel, a bit of chocolate and a hint of coffee in the finish, that is without any bitterness. A nice, but alternative porter, not one to open if you wanted one of the true "black" ones...

Small beige head. Deep dark red translucent body. Weak, earthy aroma of a mix of tropical fruit and tobacco. Taste is deep, sweetish burnt malts with fruit, earth, and tobacco notes. Some dense dark chocolate as well. Aftertaste is dry tobacco, and lingers. Slightly watery, but this isn’t so strange, given the low alcohol content. It’s not bad, but could be better. (0.5l bottle.)
