One of the most approachable ales produced by Cycle Brewing is this classic Irish Red ale with all of its caramel malt and gentle hopping but with the added nuance of rye. The rye comes across in the aroma as well as the flavor with a mild spice character and lends a more full flavor to an already malty style. Ryerish Red is easy to enjoy for all levels of craft beer drinkers. 5.0% ABV

Pours a slightly hazy dark orange color with off-white head. Lots of rye on the nose, with some caramel malt, and spice; follows onto the palate. Finishes with rye spice.

Draft at cycle (growler). No significant aroma. More rye than red- reminds me of a mowed lawn. Little bitter. Orange haze with good lace. Rye flavor too overwhelming for me.

Sample at Peg’s Cantina. The beer pours an orange-amber color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Light-bodied with a caramel malt character and notes of earthy hops and fruit. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

This poured lighter red with a white head. Aroma was of grass, light citrus and toast. Flavor was similar, light spiciness, not sure from the rye or the hops.

Draft... Hazy, deep amber pour with a small, white head. Decent retention. I can’t smell much of anything here, so the aroma is inoffensive, if nothing else. Medium-bodied and lightly astringent with stinging carbonation. The flavor trends toward the bitter side of balance, but not by much. Really nice rye and biscuit malts. Short, crisp, lightly bitter finish. This one has nice rye flavor that’s not zapped by intense hop bitterness. I could drink this for days.

Draft at Peg’s Cantina in Gulfport, FL. Pint glass. Amber in color with a one finger fluffy white head. Aroma of roasted malts, cereal, hay, bread, and little spice. Taste similar with a malty finish. A little musty or wet dog, but not bad. Fizzy on the palate. Good carb, medium light body.
