3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
31-12-04 from Pivovarsky Dum. One of my favourite bars I have made three visits to this place in the last couple of years or so, it’s excellent. Very dark beer with a large white head, lovely roasted flavours with some chocolate easy drinking and very smooth I can only criticise it for being just a bit to sweet, otherwise it’s a very good beer.

Their best of the five I tasted. Black. It has a thick, lacing head. Heavily carbonated. A little sweet. Roasted malt in the flavor. Very good.

Bitter, roasty yet thin. I enjoyed it. Quality stuff from the folks at Dum. Nice charming brewpub in middle of nowhere, Prague.

Pours dark brown with a light tan head that lasts. Chocolate roastiness all around in this beer with a bit of fruitiness in the finish. Kinda has a bit of soured beer taste in the end like guiness which keeps it very refreshing. Very smooth body with a nice balance of hops and malts.

(On tap at the brewpub) Dark brown with a dense head. Buttery toffee aroma. Roasty flavour with some sweetness, nice bitter aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 On tap at the brewpub in 2005:
Caramel-covered almonds and chocolate on the side. Roasted malts are there, but the dominating sweetness isn’t interesting enough to keep me more than curious.
Lots of coffee beans, espresso-style, thrive in a well-nourished body. Portly for a low-gravity lager, decently brewed, and perhaps the most interesting tap offering they had the day I visited. 3.2/5
"Nothing to write home about" doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not enjoying yourself.
On tap at the brewpub in 2008:
Lots of coffee in the nose, but not as much in the flavor profile. Earthy, detached roastiness adds complexity along with a raisiny fruitiness. This one too was much better all around than the one I had a few years ago. 3.5/5

Poured out dark brown with a big off white head. Smelled of nuts and sugar. Tasted of chocolate and caramel. Rich creamy warming finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Pivovarsky Dum. Dark chestnut brown with frothy tan head. Cocoa and coffee flavors with a roasted finish. Thick mouthfeel, and the taste lingers more than most Czech dunkels.

Nice "dark beer" as they call it at the brewpub. Good clear, smooth taste with a nice hop profile. I could have enjoyed a bit more kick to it, but made a good session beer.
