3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7288) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 27, 2003
Beautiful, sparkling clear, mahogany lager. Large, frothy, off-white head. Spider web lacing.
The nose is of Russian black bread and clover honey. Hint of cocoa.
Nice, bold flavor. Roasted nuts, cocoa, vanilla. Well-bittered. Good balance. Earthy, damp straw flavor in there too.
Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation.
Lengthy, bitter, astringent, dry finish.
Underrated... much like the 1988 and 1993 WVU Mountaineers football teams. Both had undefeated regular seasons; neither was listed in the Top 25 preseason poll. Just thought you'd like to know.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Suttree (3765) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 10, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2003 Looked like a Coke, with the addition of a dense tan head. Nice malty nose. Smooth and mildly sweet, and a clean mildy hoppy finish. Enough flavor to be decent with food, specifically Bagel Bites, if memory serves, but not really very interesting.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 SJP (483) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2003
Transluscent brown with a white head. Malty, slightly skunky aroma and athin watery mouthfeel. Bland and unexciting. Not really worth drinking.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Slick (1971) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - JUN 23, 2003
Nice dark brown color, small sized head, roasted malt aroma, malty slightly sweet taste with a mild skunkiness to it could be the age, definately looked like it had been around for awhile.the after taste was malty with a mild hop presence, definately not a good beer in this style and i would recommend getting something different unless you can tell it is some what fresh.I may re-rate this if i can confirm that it is some what fresh.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hotstuff (3213) - Indiana, USA - JUN 12, 2003
When this Dunkel was poured it consisted of a large beige invigorating head with fine-large bubbles. The body was a reddish-brown. There was virtually no lacing observed and there was some carbonation. The aroma was citrusy and flowery. It had a thin flavor to it. Not too impressed with this Dunkel.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUN 12, 2003
This brew pours a large head of fine off white colored bubbles and a transparent brown body. It has a nice malt aroma with a very little lacing. Its mouthfeel is fizzy and somewhat tingly. The flavor of this brew is somewhat thin with nothing special to remark about. Not much flavor at all, a few caramel notes if anything. Definately lacking in character.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 clvand0 (350) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUN 12, 2003
This beer pours a light brown color and has moderate head and lacing on the glass. It has a very hoppy aroma that is somewhat promising. The flavor reminded me of a tolerable Heineken (ass beer). It was not nearly as bad, but the flavor is very similar. This beer should be yellow also, not dark.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hayden1215 (317) - Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2003
Dark amber in color with a small off white head. Roasted malt aroma. Thin and slightly watery. Some hop notes on the finish. I'm probably rating this higher than I should. But it was a frequent friend when I was younger.
