3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WabashMan (924) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - MAY 13, 2003
Apparently this one is so traditional that only five people now on this site have even had it! Interesting... Anyway, it's got a nice color and light tan head. Aroma is lightly malty, but there's not much here. The flavor is fairly light, and lacks depth. There really isn't much to this beer...pretty standard stuff.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 flemdawg (502) - Naples, Florida, USA - MAY 7, 2003
Not too bad. Dark brown color, with little head. A bit watery taste, and a bit bitter near the end. Really, not nothing all that specail.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 kujo9 (1085) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - APR 12, 2003
Off white head lingers a little then collapses rapidly from large bubbles. Amber body is brialliantly clear. Aaahhhh that green bottle! Lightstruck is in the air, although not as bad as some. There is a little grainy malt, roast malt, as well as a some caramel and a little bit of corn(DMS). That's a first, caramel corn beer. Anyway, flavor starts out bitter and roasty, not stout like, but it could be more restrained for a Dunkel. Yes, there is that familiar light struck taste, again, not as heavy as it could be, but it's there. Grainy malty flavor and a dry, very bitter astringent finish. There is absolutely no creaminess or smoothness to this beer, it's dry, astringent, and thin for a dunkel. Carbonation is on the high side, even for a lager and truly nothing very appealing...just my opinion.
2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Deimos (80) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 5, 2003
Clear and dark, but not opaque. Bit of a skunky odor (green bottle). Small head, not long lasting.
Not a lot of flavor, but not bad. Not a bad beer, but not good either.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Hopistotle420 (1178) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 24, 2003
Draught: Deep dark brown, yet clear. Nose of lightly toasted malt. Sticky light tan head. Thin, and not much going on. Kinda skunky, metallic, roasted grain, finishing sweet with a light hint of bitterness. Im not terribly impressed, but its definately drinkable. Hey it was free, what can I say. HAHA
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 PorterPounder (3944) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 9, 2003
Bit of a skunky aroma. Decent dark copper color, medium sized head - no lacing. Thin, watery. No real distinctive flavor excepty for a slight malty aftertaste. Tastes like an ordinary lager.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 redlem (1203) - Ohio, USA - FEB 2, 2003
Not much to say. A dark beer from Germany. Dark without being opaque. Off white head. Slightly roasted lager. Decent.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 25, 2002
A dry, slightly roasty ale. Really nice and something I could enjoy again. Surprised I hadn’t had it until now, and then I noticed only three others have had it, so it’s obviously much rarer than the other DAB.
