3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 AWS9 (337) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 26, 2007 500ml can. Small is pleasantly hoppy, though not too special. Appearance is dark golden colour, with decent head. Mild malty flavouring. Goes down smooth. I first had a warm can that was underwhelming, but thought I should have a cold one before judging. The cold one was fairly impressive. Might pick this up again, pretty good price for it I’d say.
I gave this an upgrade as it was much, much better in a bottle.

500ml can
Pours a clear pale hay yellow with a bubbly white head. Nice looking lacing. Refreshing mouth feel. Smells grassy and quite hoppy. Flavour is surprisingly tame for the aroma. A little dissapointing. A little taste of melts, biscuit and yeast. Has a bare finish. Almost no bitterness in this one. Not that great I think.

Can. Pale yellow colour with a white head. Malty aroma with light grainy notes. Similar flavour with vegetable notes.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gregis (1250) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - OCT 4, 2007
Bottle poured into a pilsner glass. Pours a sparkling, clear gold with a loose, frothy, white head. The aroma has Trans-Atlantic Green Bottle Syndrome: Skunk. More skunk and the wet dog that’s been sprayed by the skunk. Once allowed to "air out", I detect muted notes of pilsner malt and faint grassy/earthy hops. I have to think that the aroma would be a lot more pronounced coming from a can. Light-bodied, without being thin, the mouthfeel features moderate carbonation and a clean, crisp conclusion. Sweet, lightly bready pilsner malt fronts a lightly grassy hop finish. Despite being light-struck, this is actually a pretty nice example of the style and a fairly tasty brew. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for this one in a can.

A typical german oils, clear, light, but flavour somewhat was lacking. Some yeast and metal left an uninspiring finish.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2007 20 oz draft Ludwig’s Beergarten-clear straw coloring, with a suttle aroma, and light malt flavoring. Really easy to drink, but on a warning goes down really quickly. Basically a German equivalent of Miller Lite that’s a little better tasting.
