2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 DJC (238) - USA - NOV 13, 2006
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2006 Gold color, with a decent white head. Some lacing. Pleasant aroma, and a clean taste. Malt and hops are just about right, with the hops prevailing in the finish. Nicely carbonated, and rather refreshing.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2006 Love It. Germany has so many great beers and this is no exception. It’s pale, it’s a lager and it has a pleasant salty/ sweet flavor that will always bring me back for some more. Prost!

This is what happens with a pilsener is shipped from Germany to the US in green bottles and put on a singles shelf. Fairly fresh to the store and already light damage killing this - this is a plea to put these pilseners in brown bottles - please!!! Pours light yellow with a large egg shell white head. The aroma has grainy malt with skunkiness due to being in the damn green. Fairly light body with lots of carbonation. Taste starts out with a smooth pale malt with light sweetness with a bit of grassiness. The finish adds all of the skunkiness. I’d love to try a fresh bottle, but I’d probably have to go to Germany.

Bottle. Pours golden with large white head. Head dissipates rather quickly. Nice, crisp, clean pilsener taste. Bit of a bitter finish that made it clean and crisp at the end as well. Very refreshing beer.

My was labelled ’draft quality’ and ’cruda’ so it doesn’t sound too good! Clear golden with big frothy head and lots of bubbles. Floral, grassy aromas. Full bodied.

From a longneck poured into a glass. I really enjoyed the grassy aroma this beer gives off. A good fresh pils, but perhaps lacking in body after the initial onset. I could drink this as a session beer substituting it for the more ubquitous Heineken or Becks found in long neck. A good drop, if for nothing else but a change.

Poured a pale golden color, some yellow aspects to it, typical head and ok lacing. The aroma was Euro green bottled import: skunky grass, soft malts underneath. The flavor was a bit skunky at first, but after that settled down the grass was most dominant, followed by light honey and some bready type aspects. More balanced to the hop and bitter side of things, but overall a pretty light beer, a weak German pilsner. The mouthfeel was light, significantly carbonated, and finished slightly dry. A nice summer time thirst quencher, not special in an imported bottle, but I’d definitely try this again fresh in Dortmund.

Can: Poured a golden yellow color pilsner with a quite large bubbly white head with average retention. Aroma of floral hops is enjoyable. Taste of malt is semi sweet with some subtle floral hops and a slightly bitter finish. This is a well-done and refreshing pilsner but really lacks character to make it truly enjoyable.
