Ungstrup (11385), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 20, 2004 A light orange beer with a huge dense white head. The aroma is very hoppy with notes of flowers and oil - like a Czech pils. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and lots of bitter hops, which gives it a niece bitter finish. A nice pils. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 27, 2007 Canned. Clear golden, brief airy head. Fruity aroma with some grass, metal and butter. Sweet and sugary with notes of boiled vegetables, dense mouthfeel. Short salty finish. Why is this listed as a pilsener? Papsoe (10510), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 8, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Pale golden with a decent, white head. Very soft, sweet malty body with a wee perfumy touch and a pleasant freshness. 020301 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 15, 2004 First, let's set the record straight once and for all. This beer is not, and never has been, a "dortmunder" by style. It is a pilsner. DAB Export is the regular dortmunder from this brewery and it's damn near impossible to find, even in Dortmund. This pilsner has a pale gold colour and bubbly white head. The aroma is predominantly hoppy (grassy, minty, anise) with a hint of bready malt. Bitter to the tune of about 25-28 IBUs (more than I remembered). Lean, dry body, spritzy carbonation. Hops lead throughout, with malt sticking to balanced background. I've only ever had this in cans before and I remember it being a lot lighter. This is from a bottle and it's obviously very fresh, and it's also quite good - on a par with the finer German pilsners we get in Ontario. Well balanced and stylistically bang-on. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 4, 2007 Can.
