pumpkinheart (63), Aurora, Illinois, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle into Footed Pilsner. Pours a bright copper with a white, fast retreating head. Aroma is pungent, almost a grassy sweatiness. The flavor is a bit of the aroma, as is to be expected, plus a plentiful hops. Not much in the way of malts, although that changed as the beer warmed, perhaps warmer than one would usually drink a pilsner. Left a light bitter on the tongue and fresh feeling in the mouth overall, much coming from the plentiful carbonation, I would guess. Not too bad, really. I think I’m coming around on pilsners as I try a variety.
MrBunn (888), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light gold with lively bubbles and a frothy, white head. Aromas are grassy and skunky hops with a little bit of a doughy malt presence peeking through. Flavo is a nice mist of grass, skunk and bread dough, but there is a metallic edge to it that is slightly unpleasant. Kind of watery, too. pineypower (892), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Sep 5, 2008 At my local higher class watering hole I ask what beer they have. Of course I’m greeted by the all to familiar answer from a bartender who doesn’t know that there is even a difference between a lager and and ale, "we have pretty much everything". After striking out on my requests for Hop Devil, 60min IPA and Flying Fish I just told her to give me something obscure...and a DAB it was. Pour out clear straw and was kept way too cold, it was the temperature that Coors likes to convince people to drink their beer at to hide the taste. After letting it warm, the aroma is of sweet sticky malts and bread. Taste has some hop in it, but was heavily leaning towards malts, nothing impressive PaulHegedus (113), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2008 500ml can. Poured too cold and this will taste awful. The aroma’s there if the head’s tall and I stick my nose almost right in it: faint butter and bread. Sweet flavour, very light. Fresher takes on this, I imagine would be much better. marcus (1051), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 27, 2008 This clear yellow beer poured with a massive white head and a standard cheap lager aroma. There is a light funky malt flavor with a bit of lemon (I guess that’t the hops). Rynoplasty (234), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours golden with a decent white head. Aroma is mainly malty with some hops and skunky green bottle aroma. Taste is mainly malt but with a nice amount of hops to balance it out. Not a bad dortmunder.
