3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 gunnarolis (33) - Reykjavík, ICELAND - OCT 18, 2012
Pours deep amber with a one finger head. Head dissapated quickly. Deep amber color, beautiful in the glass.
Aroma is dark fruits, malt, and a lot of sweetness.
Taste is sweet, mainly malty and a bit sweet, with enough bitterness to gently balance it. More dark fruits, a little burnt caramel and some spicyness, that i reckon is from the hops not the yeast. A little warming alcohol in the finish like you would expect in a beer of this type.
Overall a solid doppelbock. Should be noted that this bottle is about a year old and has had some time to mellow out.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Maria (9565) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 22, 2012
It’s mahogany red with a small head. The aroma has notes of caramel, syrup, roasted malt, biscuit and dried fruit. The sweet flavor is well balanced and lovely with notes of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, light syrup, biscuit, and the finish is slightly spicy with an extremely light touch of alcohol. Truly lovely!

Dark brown colour, disappearing head. Aroma is rather rich with sweetish malt, some coffee and chocolate. Flavour is sweet with lots of malt. Decent.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Quack-Duck (6811) - Down South, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2011
bottle, bought at the brewery. Clear deep brown colour, large beige head. Full-bodied, lovely malty base with lots of caramel, forest honey, chocolate, dark berries... and a shy hoppy touch in the lingering finish. Delicious.

The bottle looks very good, beer in the glass dark, but not black, nice head. Starts strong, intense malty, modest smoky. A bit sourish, which is unusual for a doppelbock. Well balanced finish, warming-malty, quite drinkable. A good one!

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 30, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2009 500ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Simple sweet mashy husky aroma, pretty subdued. Sweet and sticky bock taste. At first I thought it was again a bit dull, but in contrast with some very silly hoppy Mikkeller IPAs, and after those, this was deliciously malty, with nice dry woodiness. Again at first this felt boozy, but after the dreadful Mikkellers, that feeling disappeared too. Certainly not a brilliant doppelbock compared with the best, but a tasty strong bock, heading towards ESL.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 19, 2009
(Bottled) Clear dark-reddish brown with a small head. Intensely caramely-malty aroma with some smooth alcohol. Caramely-toffee-malty, sweetish flavor with some vegetable soup and strawberry. Quite full body with low carbonation. Pretty sweet doppelbock with lots of grainy-caramely maltiness. Not quite my favorite type of doppelbock: too sweet and straightforward-grainy.

Clear amber with a tiny off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt and caramel notes. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel, rye bread and hints of chocolate. Finished sweet with a bit of an alco burn.
