Tap. Pours opaque with a large, creamy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is roast malt, coffee, vanilla and earthy hops. Flavor is malt and coffee with prunes, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

On tap at the brewery, aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, toffee, some hints of roast and earth notes in there, but very coffee forward. Taste is a nice mix of coffee grounds, hints of earth, chocolate, roast, hints of caramel, finishes fairly bitter.

NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Draft at Dad & Dude’s. Pours a deep cascading black/brown, tan head. Nose is coffee forward, soft chocolate and that’s about it. Some bready malts perhaps? On tasting, big roasty notes but not the best coffee. Reasonably clean and okay, just missing pop and finesse.

Tap at brewery. Dark brown/black appearance with a light head. Dark roasted chocolate malts and espresso in the nose. Slightly bitter, a bit thin, but quite smooth dark roasted chocolate malt body with a good amount of espresso.
