Bottle from Tanakaya, Meijiro. Pours light amber, white head which dissipates. Nose is Wow. Big hoppy. Very green leafy hop, like sorachi ace. Fruity, lychee, acidic, nettles, bubble gum, clove. There’s also some sulphur and farmyard. Taste is tingly nettle and green leaf hop, acidic, bubble gum, lychee, lemon, orange, touch of banana. Some weizen creaminess too. Bit mental but nice and interesting!

Marked 2013.9.24/2013. 12/23.
Hazy pale straw yellow color, small off-white to greenish head. Odd, some sulphur, DMS, vegetable, cabbage scent. Sugary, sweet, sulphur taste. Weird dry aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.

6%  On tap at the Ibaraki Bakuon fest 2013. A cloudy straw gold with a white head. A spicy hop aroma. A full body with a smooth feel to it. The taste is slightly spicy, a touch sour & sweet. Not bad. Average but ok.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2013 Aroma: floral, citrus, wheat, yeast. Flavor: wheat, lemon/lime (almost like a soda), light bittering. Comment: easy drinking. Rated this 3.5 10/2013. Had this out of bottle bought at CBB and this time it was not just good but was outstanding. Aroma: moderately stinky, earthy flowers from the hop, malt, grain Flavor: floral, dried peach, malt, moderate bittering with grainy flavor plus ripe Meyer lemon and finishes with a lasting attack of carbonation. Comment: good carbonation and great mouthfeel, a beautiful merging of carbonation, bittering, and malt/grain. Day 2: aroma: earthy, Germanium, grain, peach with hint of Meyer lemon and yeast. Flavor: earthy, grain, peach, finishes with long bitter fruit, floral and grain character.

maekchu (2764) - Hirakata, JAPAN - SEP 23, 2012
Draught at World Craft Beer Tasting in Osaka. Some tang in the nose, not much hopping. Dark honeyish yellow. Sour fruit juice initial; a bit of funk in the mid palate;sort of flattens out in the finish. Thin body; quite refreshing. It’s okay. but I really expected a bit more hop character.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2014 Tap at Barley in Kobe. Hazy pale yellow colour, slightly cloudy with small white head. Aroma is yeasty, very grainy and a little bit of citrus. Taste is very crisp, lots of wheat, but not particularly bitter or hoppy. Slight prickle in the texture and the finish is wheaty with a twist of lemon. Second time rerate at El Nubi in Yokohama in Oct. 2014. As before but dry and spicy. Was a bit harsh last time I think with the scores.

KyotoLefty (7870) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 20, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2011 bottle from Yamaoka. Tangy wheat aroma, lemony, yeast, slightly spicy. No hop nose. Cloudy pale yellow with lace. Round, malty wheat flavor, slightly tangy with citrus, sweet and cereals, very low hops. Refreshing enough, but not so special. Needs more of the hops in the name. Tangy, slightly bitter finish. Not one of their best.
