Ole_R (1167), Oslo, Norway Jan 12, 2008 500 ml bottle provided by Sigmund, thanks! Average light brown head. Color is dark brown with a ruby glow. Exciting and unusual aroma; dry burnt malts, ash, smoke, and also a nice rustic sourness... Taste is burnt dark malts, bitter coffee and bitter licorice with a touch of wood. Good body considering the low abv. Dry roasty and bitter finish with long duration. Very exciting, very nice. Sigmund (1896), Hafrsfjord, Norway Jul 26, 2007 Updated: Dec 1, 2007Rerate, 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights. Large to moderate tan head. Distinct aroma and flavour of heavily roasted malts, with a slightly burnt or even smoky character, notes of liquorice and coffee. Quite dry, this is not a stout of the "smooth and velvety" kind. Original rating: Draught at Gladmatfestivalen 2007, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Moderate aroma of roasted malts and liquorice. Roasty flavour with strong notes of coffee, fairly dry. Moderate bitterness in the finish. larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Jan 25, 2008 Big dark beige head.
