tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2011
First tasted this at the Water Rat, Ripon in June 1989. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale red amber in colour with a thin white head. Slight aroma of redcurrant fruit and yeasty bread but short in intensity. Thin watery mouthfeel and good lacing. Thin pale malt gives a slight digestive biscuit note with poor body. Suggestion of berry fruit in the palate but hard to discern. Ringing clang of metallic hop resins clear in the astringent earthy aftertaste. Finish is short and bitter sweet with a touch of barley sugar. Humdrum session bitter.
