April 2007: Brown 500ml bottle, purple label, canít find a best before date on the bottle. Poured into a Frankenheim Alt glass twice. If there is a darker beer out there, I havenít seen it, dense and black, with a small bubbled rich light brown foaming head. Very strong burnt malt aroma, dark chocolate and treacle smells add to the malt, which gives the beer an over cooked chocolate cake aroma. This beer is what it claims it is, a smooth and creamy Chocolate Stout. This is what lets the beer down a little, it is watery for such a heavy looking and smelling stout. I enjoyed this beer, a pity about the mouthfeel, but drank with some Belgian chocolates made with beer (as bought at the Zythos fest), which I did with the second bottle, it stood up very well.

Bottle at Toms Ultimate Glasgow Tasting: Poured a dark brown/black with tan head. The aroma is chocolate and sweet chocolate. The taste was a gritty smoke with chocolate.

Black of color with a brown head. An aroma of roasted malt, kiqurice and notes of chocolate. A flavor of roasted malt, coffee, notes of chocolate.

ante (3374) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 10, 2008
Bottled at Monks Cafe, Stockholm. Dark brown with a creamy tan-colored foam. Quite rich and smooth aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, oats, honey and cinnamon. Medium-to light-bodied with acidic notes of burnt malts and black chocolate. medium-bitter finish of black chocolate, burnt malts and mild smoke. A bit more chewy mouthfeel, then this would be quite amazing.

Ethereal (2417) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 2, 2008
Bottle at Chris_Oís 19th April 2008 tasting. Dark with a line of tan head. Balanced chocolate & malt aroma, complemented by an equally subtle flavour. A bit thin but a nice change from full-on choccy stouts.

Bottle (in NZ), pours black with a large pillowy brown head. Roasted malt on the nose, with plenty of chocolate and slightly buttery. Lots of chocolate in the malty palate as well, a smooth texture with some smokiness in the finish. I would happily drink a few of these.

Kavu (2182) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 20, 2008
Pours very dark red with a brown foamy head. Aroma is quite typical roasted malts with perhaps a hint of the promised chocolate. The flavor is too bitter and acidic for my liking and there isnt enough chocolate. Decent.

NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 19, 2008
Roasty smoked and light dry lactic notes. And something that smells like a clean plastic milk carton. Black with a wispy tan bubbly. Dry with dark malt, chocolate and tobacco in the flavor.

500 ml bottle. Aroma has roasted malt in it, maybe some fruity hoppiness too. The chocolade is not present. Taste is roasted and bitter. Not choko here either. Little bit too carbonated.
