chriso (7428) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2007 Dark chestnut colour. Sweetish malt aroma, but an unexpected (but pleasant) bitterness to go with the malt on the palate. Just a hint of licorice too. Quite clean and surprisingly easy to drink for a beer of this strength. In fact, if anything, a bit thin. (or, at least, thinner than anticipated). Decent, but not terribly exciting. Handpump, Lord Moon of the Mall, Whitehall, London

Bottled, Pasteurised. Deep red colour with bubbly pinkish head. Malts all the way with this, rich, slightly fruity with some chocolate richness. Strong and thick. Good beer.

The one I am rating is old. Ruby red in color pours with a thick head. Smell like an ESB, fruity, malty and with Northern Brewer and/or KentGolding Hops. Tastes carmelly and bitter. Acidic finish. Good Beer!

Tasty beer. Amber beer with a bit of red to it. Full malt flavor with mild hop bitterness and yeast flavors.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2008 Ruby red colour, firm, beige head. Chocolately, sweet aroma. Sweet, chocolately flavour. As the beer gets warmer a slight smokiness can be detected.

Nuffield (3714) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 31, 2002
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2008 Perhaps I did not look hard enough, but what I found here was rather pleasing. Nice deep ruby color, fruity yet chocolatey flavor. Not stunning, but I found this worthy of drinking with friends. // re-rated in a dinner party, and pretty much the same result (3.5). Tasty English treat!

rauchbier (3634) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUL 17, 2002
Bottled. Chestnut red low head and condition. Fruity raisin nose with a roast barley hint. Fruitcake and toast in the mouth and a swet malty finish. Doesnt seem as strong as the abv suggests.
