Deep ruby amber with a smallish beige head and brief lace. Malty and molasses malt with a touch of bandaid aroma. Nice medium chewy palate. Low pleasant sweet malt medium bitter hops start moving back to caramel and toffee sweet but not cloying finish. Lotsa nice character for a 5.3% ale.

Pours copperish brown with a tan head. The aroma has notes of toffee and roasted malts plus some fruit. The flavor is light with a slight sweetness and a finishes with a touch of roastedness.

Bottle. Dark brown with minmal head. Quite malty with a delicate choclate edge. Raisins and dates perhaps. Low bitterness but enough to keep things in balance. Medium bodied. Three years ago I would have loved this for it’s heavy maltyness - now I just like it.

On cask at Wetherspoons Real Ale Festival. Dark ruby/brown ale with a small tan head. Smells malty, roasty and toasty. Tastes of cocoa biscuits with a little bit of raisin and peach. Not much bitterness, more a sweetness to the finish. Pleasant.

Wrongly guessed that this would be a belgian triple when I ordered it by name only. I was surprised but not unhappy with the beer. It is not really strong or "powerful". It is an easy drinking beer that doesn’t offend, smoothly delivering a decent, maybe overly sweet, malt character balanced reasonably by hop bitterness.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown. Aroma and taste is malty and has some wood. Also some hops in the aroma. The malt is litte to burnt and the finish is to dry and harsh.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark chestnut brownish red, with a tannish head that disappears slowly. Wet, dripping lacing. Big caramel aroma, with soft chocolate and some toffee, too. Nice. Flavor has caramel, and some bizarre BBQ-sauce tinge, but not smoky. Metallic aftertaste. Thin, watery body. Refreshing taste, and easy to drink. Unique flavors, but wouldn’t call it a strong ale.

Pint bottle. Pours to a bright, deep brown color, with a soapy white head that fades, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is malty with aromas of sweet malt, nuts, and treacle. The palate is soft with good flavors of sweet malt, light estery fruit, and flavors of treacle and molasses. This beer finishes with more sweet malt and molassess flavor, and has just enough flowery hop bitterness to take the cloying edge off this beer. A very enjoyable pint of beer.
