Bottle. This is malty and dark and absolutely delicious! A warming brew that paired beautiful with a roast lamb dinner. Aroma is rich chocolate malt and spruce hops. A dark brown beer with a tan head that quickly disappears. Bitter with hints of sweetness. Light carbonation. Astringent finish. Also paired it with chocolate. That too is delicious! Those Elizabethans were really onto something! I could have this with every roast I have.

Cask. It pours dark brown witha dense tan head. The aroma is very spicy. Mainly ginger. Some sweet caramel and fruit. The flavour is ginger, cardemon and dark fruit. Odd beer.

50 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Deep mahogany with a thin tan head. Cola-like aroma, some herbiness, maybe mace and clove. Sweet, interesting mix of hops and herbs, warming finish with some carbonated bite.

Nice blackish charcoal taste and a little sweet. ABV is quite high. Not bad.

Brown bottle, 500 ml, purchased at the Manitoba Liquor Control Commissions on January 20 2010, savoured on February 5 2010; eye: bronze with ruby reflections, clear, minimal effervescence, tiny ring of beige head, no lacing; nose: malt, slight burnt, caramel, nuts; mouth: malt, caramel, slight burnt, light dates, nuts, finale in malt with light presence of caramel-burnt with a little bit of hops that arrives as a surprise, medium body, slightly bitter, sweet and astringent, average carbonation, slick texture; overall: fine

Bottle. Clear brownish copper pour with a short tan head that doesn’t last long. Very mild aroma, barely noticeable, with faint hints of spice and malt. Flavour has notes of ginger, clove, cinnamon, caramel, almond and hints of chocolate and cola. Surprisingly light bodied with low carbonation and a lingering bitter, spicy finish. Rather unusual ESA but fairly pleasant; slightly unbalanced but easy to drink.

Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with a yellow white head. Spruce, floral hop tones, some light woody tone and a mild earth y tone. Some light chocolate tones and caramel hints of toffee and a spruce y earth and light cinnamon cellar. A nice session ale.

Dark brown color, white, tiny head; aroma of slightly roasted malt, lots of spices, some herbs; mouthfeel is smooth with some carbonation, medium body; flavor of spices, ginger and some sweet malt with hints of cool liquorice.

Dark brown with a medium sized beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, anise and caramel. Flavour was sweet with roasted malt, caramel, coffee and anise. Sweet spicy finish.
