Brown ale, quite well balanced but aside from its nutty side and hoppy finish there isn’t much to it. Pretty average.

Very hazy brown in color with little head. A bit watery, malty, and nutty in flavor. Certainly not what I would imagine a bitter ale to encompass. Different and light.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle, 11C. Caramel with a small beige head. Aroma of nuts, caramel and grass, a little plum. Thinnish, dead mouthfeel. Taste has spicy toffee with a hint of nuts. Bitter finish with some spices and astringency from the carbonation. A fair bit better as it warmed and gassed out, but this is one where pastuerised bottling hasn’t worked very well at all.

Old rate. 500ml bottle from LCBO. Poured a clear deep copper, almost reddish brown. Aroma is tanic and hoppy, with notes of caramel malt and spicy florals. Flavour is malty and on the bitter tanic side, with some caramel malt elements. It never gets sweet and stays on the bitter side as it warms, and maintains a fairly smooth mouthfeel. Decent.

On tap somewhere! Clear darkish brown beer. Nicely balanced well behaved malt and hop with a touch of bitter toffee. Pleasant flavour somewhat let down by an over dry finish.

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, visible carbonation, small + stable off-white head; moderate fruity-malty nose with a toasty touch; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, quite light bodied, pretty soft; dlightly lingering dryish fruity-malty finish with some hops in the aftertaste. O.K. .....

Very well done bitter. Full taste of sweet malt and caramel tempered with slight bitterness. Lingering finish of semi-sweet toffee. Excellent for a long session!
