2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Tinco (434) - Linköping, SWEDEN - JUN 11, 2013
Hazy straw with small white head. Aroma: hard to get, some hints off spices. Taste: hot chili dominates the taste and other favours are hidden behind the chili. More fun than good. Not my thing.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kerenmk (1241) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - FEB 25, 2012
Draught at brewpub. Pours cloudy golden with a big white head. Fresh aroma: some chili pepper and a little lemon. Spicy, bitter taste. Light body, fizzy, burning finish. Fun.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - AUG 11, 2011
Very pale and hazy. Light head. Slightly wheaty, with muted coriander aroma, a bit like the Hefe-Wit. The chile is making no real impact...actually very little chile in there, maybe a tiny accent in the finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beershine (5174) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Draft @ brewpub. Hazy pale yellow with tight head. Smells faintly of chili but I really had to look for it, not sure I would have found it without a prompt. But subtle is good in this case, the beer smells clean. The palate is soft, and the chili is so subtle it’s barely there, just adding dryness in the finish, balancing and blending with the wit beer yeast. As the chili flavor builds up, I feel a slight tingle in the back of the throat. Nice.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 zvikar (2068) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JUN 9, 2009
From tap, @BeerFest Israel, hazy honey color with small to medium head, smoked aroma (cigar like) with black pepper and some acidity, quite pleasant, flavor is malty with some chili, to hot for a beer, other flavors are well balanced, complexity is low and mouthfeel is watery.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 omhper (17558) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 23, 2009
Draught at the brewery. Cloudy golden, small head. Chilli aroma. Sweet and fruity at fist, then tabasco hits. the chili flavour is good in itself, but the heat is quite immense. Despite a well rounded and pleasant body and having less chilli heat than most other chilli beers it goes over the top and becomes more gimmicky than refreshing or interesting.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 tomer (1228) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - APR 17, 2008
Draught, at the "pre passover keg party".
Light amber colour, a bit hazy, muted nose (maybe a bit too cold), fruity taste and then suddenly, without prior notice, a chili sting up your nose and down throat. Light bodied, simple and strange light ale, nothing special.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 YK23 (465) - Haifa, ISRAEL - APR 16, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2008 On tap at "pre passover keg party": well, it’s a decent lager with a bite, quite refreshing, quite enjoyable beer for the summer, nothing special other the the nice spicy chili bite on the back of the throat.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DSG (3978) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JUL 28, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 14, 2008 Re-rate 6/13/08: Draught at the brewery. A new release for a new Friday the 13th, using a slightly different recipe with only the pepper seeds (from what I understand). Orange-colored. Aroma is fruity and spicy with some wheat and notes of hops. Sweetish flavor with some wheat, yeast notes, fruits, and a very nice chilli pepper bite that manages not to be too hot to drink. Medium-bodied. Refreshing and enjoyable. Well-done David! 6/4/7/3/13=3.3
Re-rate 4/16/08: Draught at the "Pre-Pesach Keg Party" 2008. Cloudy dark yellow with a small white head. Lightly spicy aroma of wheat, some yeast and notes of hops. Sweetish flavor, a bit wheaty, with some yeast and fruits. The chilli pepper joins in in the finish and brings along mostly a burning throat feeling and only a bit of its pepper taste. Medium-bodied. 6/3/5/2/12=2.8
Draught sample at Culta-Beera festival in Rehovot. Color is hazy yellow. Aroma is wheaty, fruity and with some chili pepper. Flavor is sweetish and fruity at the beginning but then comes a palate-surprising hot chili pepper spiciness that from the aroma and the initial flavor you could never guess is coming. Light to medium bodied. This is a pretty nice beer, and an interesting palate-shocker, but I don’t think I could enjoy more than a sample of it. 7/3/6/3/13=3.2
