COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
An eminently drinkable English pale session ale. Subtle malt and floral notes are matched splendidly with citrus hop, rounded off with a slightly dry finish.
Ay / Ey Up Me Duck is the phrase that inspired both the name of the brewery and one of the beers but when it came to getting the pumpclips made we discovered that there is much debate surrounding the spelling. The majority of people in Derby seem to think that it should be ’Ay Up’ but head a few miles East or North and people are adamant that it is ’Ey Up’. We didn’t feel that it was up to us to decide and so we had both versions printed and leave it to the pub landlord or lady to choose. So to answer a question that we are often being asked Ay Up and Ey Up are indeed the same beer just different pumpclips.

Light, floral and easy to drink. Not overly hoppy, citrus hop definitely present. Quite lively, lingers a touch on the palate.

Cask conditioned at The Exeter Arms, Derby. Gold with white head. Good middling body, light and refreshing carrying a sharp, hoppy, tangy flavour. Citrus and zesty, very pleasant and much needed.

On cask at The Townhouse Pub’s 10th Annual Beer Festival, Ely. A light golden beer with a lacy white head. Yeast dominates the aroma with some barley and sweet toffee notes. Tastes again very yeasty with some mild caramel malt and lemon citrus flavours also. Quite thin but clean and fresh tasting. Lingering caramel flavour.

Cask (hand pump) at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival. ABV is 3.9%. Pale golden colour, low head. The aroma is moderate with some citrus. "Dusty" and unpleasant flavour, a little citrussy hop is not enough to save this beer. Fail.

Cask (handpump) at the Market Porter on 15 January 2011. Hard on the heels of the Five Towns Yorker, this was a rather similar beer. Clean, gold and fresh. Plenty of citric hop character throughout. Some tart lemony acidity. Extremely refreshing. A very promising introduction to a new brewery.

Cask handpull. Somewhere in London. I guess CP&K but I may be wrong. Very pale gold colour with thin white head. Citric on aroma. OK in mouth maybe just a bit too acidic for me. Some decent hop.
