1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, - DEC 4, 2007
The standalone Stout is a very good counter to all of the locally produced lagers. It has a great coffee and dark roast malty flavour that oddly works well in a climate such as in Malaysia. I had a couple the other night with some stir fried pork (yes pork in KL!) down Chinatown way. On the other hand ginseng is one of those herbal additives that are said to be good for many a common malaise. But it tastes like medicine. When added to this beer it still tastes like medicine. A shame but still erk.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Skinnyviking (5712) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2008
Bottle. High creamy and lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Mild coffee choccolate aroma and flavor with a good deal of hops bitterness. High carbonation. Long aftertaste. Ginseng? Sorry mates I could find no traces of it.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Maverick34 (1419) - New York, USA - AUG 16, 2008
Canned in KL, Malaysia. Well I could really taste the ginseng, otherwise kind of mediocre.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (10390) - Como, ITALY - OCT 19, 2007
Can Black color; thin persistent foam layer. Mixed aroma of roasted malt and herbs, ginseng, yes. The body is medium structured, with a strong roasted malt flavor, some sourness from it, a typical ginseng bitterness; dusty. Not bad, but a FS and ginseng are two flavors that I don’t love, together they don’t make much better.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 foduck (328) - Denton, Texas, USA - SEP 4, 2007

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 22, 2007
Bottled. A black beer with a red shine under a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt as well as spicy notes of the ginseng, while the flavor is plainly sweet malty with a dry roasted end. Not my thing.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ThomasE (5176) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 17, 2007
Deep reddish brown colour with a light brown head. Roasted malty aroma with a light chocolate sweet note and hints of the ginseng. Light roasted flavor with a sweetness from overripe fruits. Bitter finish with notes of ginseng.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 madsberg (7569) - Søborg, DENMARK - JAN 10, 2007
Bottled. Dark reddish brown coloured. Light brown head. Distinct flavour and aroma of ginseng and ginger. In the aroma theres some fruits as well. Flavour is apart from the very dominant spices light roasty, light buttery and grassy. Medium bodied. Is a very weird brew, that I have problems liking.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 faroeviking (8805) - HAITI - JAN 9, 2007
Bottle. Pitch black colour, light nrown head. Aroma of ginseng, roasted malt, chocolate. Flavour is spicy (ginseng), lots of maltiness and good chocolate, with bitter hops. Long dry aftertaste of roasted malt and chocloate. Thick tasty stout, quite unusual.
