BeerVirgin72 (645), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2008 Had at Redlight Redlight. This was a very bizarre mead. Flavors up front were sweet. Vanilla and honey. Then came some spice, black pepper and caraway seed, finishing with a slow alcohol burn. I wanted very much to like this one, and I loved the initial flavor, the end left me scratching my head. Very interesting flavor combo, but it was like drinking two different meads. thomat (600), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 2, 2008 Golden color without any head. Sweet and flowery notes. Alcohol, honey sweetness and flowers. Full body with a sweet, vinous aftertaste. rickgordon (3088), Göteborg, Sweden Oct 16, 2008 Bottled. Deep golden colour. Oxidized aroma with bit of lavender, toast and somewhat edgy from the alcohol. Toast and lavender dominated the flavour. The mouthfeel is edgy from the alcohol. A sprawling mead, not so smooth as I want it to be. dchmela (903), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 12, 2008 Glass at Redlight Redlight. Pours a light cherry color, could almost pass for a Zinfandel. Nice sweet honey aroma with hints of cherry. Sweet honey taste with a burn of alcohol, yet still seemed very smooth. The burn reminded me of a cinnamon oil type spiciness. Very interesting. CheersMate1 (350), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 10, 2008 Wow, this is my first mead. I must say that I am very surprised. One day before brewing I had visited a man who loved to brew mead, and this tastes nothing like his mead, of course. With that said, I had a different level of expectations. The mead is a honey color with a copper/orange color. I don’t know much about meads, but this mead looks pretty good. The beer did not have any head. The beer had a few carbonation bubbles, and proved to be much more carbonated than I had expected. The beer is very aromatic. There is a strong aroma of alcohol and honey. I think the alcohol taste contrasts poorly with the sweet honey smell. The mead has a strong presence of alcohol up front. Jeez this stuff is extremely strong, but the sweet honey tastes flows in and leaves your tongue with a lovely sweet taste. I love this taste because at first it is a bit rough, but at the end very sweet. No hops, but a decent brew.
