Mead at the meadfest, really odd, tons of caraway which isn’t that great. Good base though, boozy

From tap at Taphouse, Copenhagen. Clear yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma and flavour of alcohol, honey and spice.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden with nothing like a head. Thick and dense. Aroma is honey, booze, sweet and some spicy flowers. Taste is surprisingly light. Sweet flowers, honey, slight spice, sugary yet light body. Finish is boozy and slight parfume. Really soft and actually liked it.

Pours clear gold with no head. No carbonation.
Lots of honey and booze in the nose.
Stick your nose in and get raped by the sharp alcohol... Then have a sip and be surprised by the incredible smoothness... Still has a lot of sharp booze, but eases out so fast with lots of sweetness and honey.. actually quite nice!
First mead review..

Mead tasting at Taphouse. Ceramic bottle. No head. Clear dark brown body. Herbal honey aroma combined with alcohol. The herbal notes from the aquavit is quite dominant so that the sweetness from the honey is supplressed. Long finish.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

Sample by courtesy of Meilby - thank you, Kenni! The mead has got a deep dark golden colour with a smooth body. Aroma of intense honey and flowers.TTaste of good, good honey, liquer, mild and gentle herbs. Intense finish, wine and liquer like. Despite its high alcohol content smooth drinkable and highly enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted at Greg’s honey-themed beer gathering, thanks for sharing Vyvvy. It poured a slightly hazy amber colour, still, no foam nor lace. Strong aroma and flavour of honey, floral and earthy with smooth alcoholic heat, some nice herbal and nutty traits from caraway (like freshly-baked pumpernickel bread with honey on it.) Medium body, well-rounded mouthfeel, no carbonation, with a sweet aftertaste. Higher abv percentage than their Viking Blod, but more harmonious, perhaps due to the blended Danish aquavit brandy. Definitely well-crafted and tasty, an awesome historical learning experience, but I still prefer a good beer.

Bottle, 200ml, from the National Museum in Copenhagen. A slightly cloudy golden colour. A room-filling sweet elderflower aroma. Flavour is intensely sweet with honey, tart apple, elderflower. Caraway evident in the finish. A fair alcohol burn. Syrupy mouthfeel. Quite pleasant. While I like both mead and aquavit I’m not a fan of the combination.

Aroma of honey with notes of caraway seed. A straw hued pour that tastes of honey and caraway seeds. Strong, sweet, smooth and satisfying. Oh to be a Viking! A great sipper at the end of the day.
