Very nice legs. Aroma is sweet, a little rubbing alcohol, somewhat floral, definite ginger. Quite sweet in front, then butter and honey, then ginger/honey/alcohol bite. Alcohol not well hidden.

Bottle from State Line Liqours - pours orangy clear with no head, still. Aroma is floral with some sweet spiciness. Not sure what the hops are doing for it. Taste is sweet, hide its alcohol well, though there is a burn. Palate is syrupy. Overall, I like it, but it’s a bit expensive for what you get.

The mead part of this drink is excellent but the addition of hops really killed for me. As soon as I saw this and the fact that is the oldest surviving mead recipe I had such high hopes. Unfortunately these hopes were dashed away.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy orange with no head. Aroma of honey, raisin and flowerish notes. Sweet flavour with a solid floral and ends up more dry, slightly bitter and with some warming alcohol. Full to medium bodiedand oily texture. A solid mead. ★★★

Pours clear reddish orange. The aroma has fruitiness from the hibiscus, honeysuckle, alcohol, orange, floral aspects and pleasing warmth. Thick slick lush body that coats the mouth. The taste has lots of sweet honey, bright hibiscus, rose petals, warm alcohol and a full lushness to everything. This is a very pleasant sipper of a mead. The sweetness is definitely there, but enough is around to offset it and not make it overwhelming. The hibiscus really pops out well. I’m guessing the hops are there more to offset the sweetness than to make themselves a noticeable taste. Really enjoy this one, but will probably take a while to get through the bottle.

Ceramic bottle, 19%. Sweet and alcoholic aroma. Clear amber colour. The flavour is sweet with some honey, a little spicy. Raisin finish, like Swedish gloegg, also some metal.

Smells like booze. Not in a good way. Taste is a lot better but not great. Sweet honey on the back end. Sugary finish. Not a fan.
