3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 70cl stoneware. A more or less clear one, amber in color, quite oily. No carbonation or head. The aroma is quite flowery, with heather honey and alcohol. Some earthy and citrusy hints. It’s sweet and honey tasting with some flower and berries. Way too warming I think, full bodied and velvety on the palate. Lasting finish with some berries and herbs and quite a lot of honey and sweetness, and of course alcohol. Wouldn’t mind this one with the alcohol subdued. As it is now it’s way, way to warming. 140331

I am obviously not a viking. This made me want to scrape my tongue with a razor blade. I’d be a very angry woman if I had to drink this all the time. The best part of this drink...the color. It is a beautiful golden color that tricks you into thinking this is the best thing that will ever touch your tongue. It fooled me. I’ll keep the bottle though. It looks like stone. Advertising got me again!

Oh my god. I really hoped for this to be good. Pours a clear amber with zero head. Aroma is all alcohol. I smell maybe a bit of honey, but not much. It burns in your mouth thanks to the 19% ABV. I’m not impressed. It’s a little oily on the tongue, but not my thing.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aromas of lush honey, and flowers usher in a rewarding sensery experience. An orangish amber pour sets the stage for the taste of sumptuously smooth round honey coupled with floral notes and a suggestion of hops. This drink is pure heaven… or should I say Valhala. Now I know why the Viking warriors wanted to go there.

By the Gods who made this? Billund needs to up the game a bit. What in the name of Woden are the bees feasting on here pig fat and Lego? No wonder the Vikings went marauding to the coasts of Scotland where they would found Moniack Mead.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours reddish-orange with a light haze. Nose is honey, lime, berry, and a gentle floral note. Flavor is...amazing. Just amazing. Primal and essential, rather than sanitized and filtered; it’s so Nordic one glass makes me want to go sack a monastery. Finish is long and aromatic. Brilliant.
