Very syrupy amber pour...clinging long on the sides of my snifter, as well as my sample glass! Very, very, very alcoholic nose, but some herbal, floral notes underneath that. Intensely sweet honey flavor, big (HUGE) alcohol, and lots of floral flavors. Massively sweet and alcoholic, with some moderate floral highlights. Good!

Shared by bhensonb. Pours clear honey with no head and a honey and alcohol aroma. This is all about honey, with a warm alcohol trail. The hibiscus adds a floral feeling. It’s delicious.

Pours orange copper with no head. Strong aroma of flowr/herb over honey. A bit of heat. First flavor is floral - so that’s hibiscus. Very strong hp bitter. Well balanced. Lots of flavor.

Bottle from the Beer Engine. My first mead so maybe my numbers are a little skewed. I love the label, the bottle, the unpackaging of this, my first mead. The color is a beautiful golden amber, unctuous against the glass like a thinner cognac. The aroma is so complex: honey, grass, a little musty like the inside of a hive or a dried up comb. The flavor is sweet, boozy with a silky mouth feel. Warmed, the flavors are even silkier. Talk about a winter warmer, the warmth down the throat relaxes the body and makes you want to snuggle down in blankets by a fire.

9/27/2009: Dansk Mjød Viking Blod... Aroma: Touch of red wine and fruit; floral nose. Appearance: Still; dull pinkish color. Flavor: Moderately sweet, but is hot with a burn; fruity and floral like blackberry, hints of red wine; dark honey in the finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; very smooth. Overall: Rich and warming.

Sample from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #107 for this mead.

[2492-20090926] Bottle. Spicy honey treacle aroma is a little spruce. Clear, light orange brown body with no bubbles. Sweet spruce wine flavour has a candy-like aftertaste. Thick medium body. Wow, that’s a kick to the teeth.

2009-09-26. Crisp golden body, headless. Syrupy legs on the glass. 3+ Alcoholic aroma, light florals, touch of leafy veg that I may be imagining after the server told me it has hops in it. 6+ Flavour is sweet, honey and florals, interesting something else, warming alcohol in the finish, sweet honey lingers. 7+ Smooth full bodied palate is lightly syrupy. Enjoyable in small quantities, but a five ounce pour was lots for two people to share, let only on your own! Interesting but just okay. Bottle at Three Floyd’s, Munster.
