The first thing that I noticed about this was the container it is in; a nice ceramic bottle which just goes to show that appearances are important and the producers know it. Opening the bottle, I was greeted with a wonderful scent of honey first off, with lighter hibiscus and hop tones in the back. Finally, was the ever-present scent of alcohol, and since this is a 19% Alc/Vol beverage, it is no wonder why it is strong. Moving on to taste, the first thing I noticed was the sharp alcohol taste that usually dissuades me from most drinks with that noticeable burn. However, it hooked me in with the sweet after taste. Honey sits well on the tongue, circling on the palette with the hops and hibiscus playing the wonderful accompaniment. I can only imagine that this would be a perfect aperitif or a fantastic dessert wine, if used in the upper-class sense of dining.

Sampled at the 2015 Cajun Cafe Cider and Mead Festival. Pours a deep red-amber with no head. Nose is flowers, deep berries, some huge honey, and sweetness. Flavor is huge honey, flowers, and some berries with a full body and booze all over.

This mead pours a slightly hazy straw color with a slight pinkish hue, and there is no head. There is a lot of booze (and I mean a lot of hot, solventy alcohol) in the nose, but there are slight notes of honey sweetness, floral hops, and hibiscus flowers. The taste is quite boozy, quite sweet, and a touch sour with an finish that is hot with some residual sweetness, and the palate fuses an oily texture, medium-light body, and a flat carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma is full of dry earthy honey with a bit of earthy hibiscus underlying as well. Flavor is full of sweet honey with a decent amount of booze and a pretty strong earthy hibiscus note.

On cask at Belmont Station. Haha with a Viking helmet on the cask. Pours a clear ruby color with obviously no head. The aroma is heavy herbal and sugary, heat is all over. The flavor has a sugary honey base and some interesting floral notes, but for me the main flavor was hot alcohol, burning, chemical like cheap vodka. Lots to like, but not for me.

This $30 dollar bottle of mead is well worth it. This was definitely a dessert drink. Cheers!

Poured from a large ceramic bottle into a snifter. Aroma- Has a sweet fruit aroma with a strong alcohol smell. Appearance- The color of watered down apple juice, with no head. Taste- The flavor is not bad but it is nowhere near tasting like a beer. Once you get that out of your head the honey flavor isnt bad, there is a strong alcohol taste and bite. Palate- Dry, light bodied beer with no carbonation. Has a syrup like texture. Overall- I think this is slightly over-rated by those before me. It would make a nice aperitif.
