Dark amber color. Mellow, wine aroma. Balanced taste (sweetness, alcohol…), a bit herbal. Ends with the necessary bitterness.

70 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. No head or carbonation. Amber colour with a alcoholic aroma of sweetnes, oak, apple and honey. Very very sweet flavour of honey and alcohol.

Bottle at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. I try very hard to enjoy meads but really struggle. This one starts out promisingly with an interesting dry sherry like character on the nose, to go with the very heavy honey presence. But once I taste the stuff. Wham! All I get is honey drenched in sugary sweetness with a syrupy mouthfeel. I just can’t take the sweetness. Its not just mead - I struggle with dessert wines too, no matter how great they are, unless there is a lot of acidity to cut through. This does not have any acidity to speak of. My loss I suppose.

Bottle, courtesy of the Danes @ ZBF 2005. Amber, no head or condition.Big sweet spiciness in the nose with some woodiness and some spirity Glayva notes. Obviously alcoholic in the mouth with a sticky sweet spiced honey note dominating. Long lingering spicy sweet finish with plenty of warming retronasal alcohol.

Musty, sweet, honey aroma has a nutty character to it. Clear copper coloured, viscous body leaves nice traces on the glass. Floral honey flavour has notes of all-spice, coriander, lavender and some apparent alcohol strength. Medium body with strong alcohol warming is somewhat sticky in the mouth. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.

RBESG05: Strong alcoholic spicy honey nose. Nice teardrops in the glass like a fine port or wine. Gold in colour. Sweet honey, no harsh alcohol. Just warming. Lovely sweet honey, and spice. Great stuff.
