I try very hard to enjoy meads but really struggle. This one starts out promisingly with an interesting dry sherry like character on the nose, to go with the very heavy honey presence. But once I taste the stuff. Wham! All I get is honey drenched in sugary sweetness with a syrupy mouthfeel. I just can’t take the sweetness. Its not just mead - I struggle with dessert wines too, no matter how great they are, unless there is a lot of acidity to cut through. This does not have any acidity to speak of. My loss I suppose.

Clear copper coloured, viscous body leaves nice traces on the glass. Floral honey flavour has notes of all-spice, coriander, lavender and some apparent alcohol strength. Medium body with strong alcohol warming is somewhat sticky in the mouth. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.
