3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Intensiver Honiggeschmack, leider ist so auch die Süße relativ stark. Wenig süffig, geschmacklich nicht besonders aber solide. 9/8/9/9/10/10

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated on 02-23-2013 at RBWG. This mead pours a small head and has a pale yellow body. The aroma is honey, apples and sweet. The flavor mimics the aroma along with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is carbonated and this mead is medium bodied. A tasty mead that is easy drinking even at 19%ABV.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 75cl. Cellared five years. It’s almost clear, dark golden in color and flat. Rather oily. It’s honey-ish and heather-ish in the aroma, sweetish and lightly caramelish with a good dash of alcohol. Some cellar notes in the flavor, with caramel sweetness. Fruity notes. Some dried fruits and a good dash of honey and heather. Full body, oily and warming. Lasting finish. Seems it was a good idea to cellar it for this long. The oxidation is just a nice added touch, and it doesn’t feel as boozy as the fresher bottle I tasted. 140808

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Payless Liquors in Southport, IN. Pours a slightly fizzy golden body. The aroma is spicy and sweet with notes of herbs and seasonings that I could never identify. Flavors are robust with licorice, more herbs, butterscotch, caramel, vanilla. A smooth, fiery burn warms the throat as it goes down. Very interesting. Gets on top of you quick, though. I don’t recommend sampling this as you’re trying to study Anatomy for medical school! On second thought, DEFINITELY do exactly that. Adds perspective.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle from Fine Foods Kastrup Airport, Copenhagen. Pours a clear light golden body. Nose is alcohol, honey, nuts and mild floral tones with hints of undefinable spices. Taste is booze, honey, strange leathery marzipan notes, metal and hints of flowers and bitter herbs. Full, yet alcohol-thinned body. Far too alcoholic for its own good, and with some other off-tones going on at the same time (fusel, perhaps). They really ought to stop putting extra spirit in this one, and rather make a lower ABV with more drinkability. I fail to see how this one can have such a high rating; this is one of the worst commercial meads I’ve had in a long time.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
First this should not be served cold, nothing but acetone and burnt honey. When it warms up a bit it develops that wonderful almost roasted honey front middle and finish. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, with a hint of bitter in the finish. Wonderfully warming the whole way down and then some. No carbonation, thus no head but the wonderful nectar clings to the side of the glass.
