from Au Grain d’Orge, Neuchâtel - slightly hazy brown colour with a little persistent beige foam; gently smoky with notes of caramel, sherry and wood; medium-bodied and with a low carbonation, some sweetness and a moderate bitterness; finishes a bit short and dry with notes of smoke and caramel - subtle and very well-made

Bottled. A nut-brown beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of peated whiskey, malt, and wood. The flavor is sweet with peated whiskey, wood, caramel, and malt, leading to a dry whiskey finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier, Switzerland
Dark brown color; medium sized creamy head. The aroma from the peaty whisky is moderate, delicate, not overwhelming. The underlying Brown Ale has a quite ordinary caramel flavor that edges on the dry and dusty side; but it’s well complemented by a moderate smoked whisky flavor; there is also some chocolate and very light roasted malts.
The final is correctly bitter, with light roasted nuts and light whisky.
Pleasant, it gives a better statement than the Special Reserve 43, but it’s less seducing than the Special Reserve 21, also because of the different original cask used.
