Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sweet licorice - laber larver, soft licorice. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, caramel, soft. Dark brown color, with almost no head. Mild aroma of chocolate and whiskey. Some malt and caramel aroma; the light whiskey presence highlights the sourish components, without leaving a mark.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, oak, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long oak, vanilla and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. A clear one, almost brown in color and with a small, off-white to light beige head. Caramel, oxidation, some booze, dried fruits and a vinous touch too. The flavor is pretty much the same, with some vanilla. Too much oxidation I think, at least compared to what the beer else has to offer. Full to medium body, soft and smooth, and with a certain warmth. A rather special beer, decent, but not impressive. 120622

Bottle 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Red-brown with wide beige head, magnificent laces. Aromas of peated malt, smoked, wet wood, fruit and Bourbon. The mouth is in agreement with aromas, oak, compote, walnut and chestnut, vanilla. Finale with warm notes of Bourbon. Avoids the heaviness and the frequent bludgeon of alcohol of beers aged in barrels.
