Delivers exactly what it promises... A dark ale. Offers caramel, chocolate and coffee malts on the nose and each can be tasted when you wash this beer down. Tastes better served ice cold, unlike other dark ales which are better at about 6-10 degrees, but then again it is Australia and it’s refreshing to wash down an ice cold beer.

Excellent beer. Deep toffee colour with a creamy stable head with great aroma. Found to be very smooth with a fuller feeling in the mouth than other dark ales, yet clean aftertaste.

Poured a dark orange red with some visible sediment, most of which settled quite fast. No strong aroma, flavours roast, coffee. An enjoyable ale.

Tap @ Little Creatures Dining Hall, Melbourne. Pours cloudy dark amber with a nice creamy beige head leaving lace. Aroma is malty, bready, carame and, a bit sweet. Flavor like aroma, nice bitterness and fruityness. Finishes malty bitter.

I don’t drink beer and think all sorts of fancy words to express what it is like. I drink beer because it tastes good and this beer tastes good. Had some today while dipping some bread into olive oil and balsamic vinegar and the two tasted great together.

I had high hopes for this ale by the little creatures guys but sadly i was disapointed. Could hardly smell a thing, maybe slight hint of coffee and malts. Taste was awfully average, hardly any flavour and very little bitterness.

Simple dark ale, with aromas of cereal malts, slightly roasty. Dark in color, as the name implies. Slightly bitter taste, but not bad. Nice medium body, average carbonation, clean finish.
Overall, fairly good. Just nothing horribly special. In context, as the Aussie craft beer movement is just getting going, it’s great. Overall, just average.
Bottle labelled Best By April 2012, bought in a bottle shop in Melbourne.
