Extremely evident alcohol which made drinking this at room temperatures challenging. I realize that Michigan winters can be severe, but these guys need to learn balance or restraint or something. I think beer geek/hard liquor fans would enjoy this more than I did. Very warming, vineous and malty. Saliva-inducing for some reason.

Slightly hazy plum. Dying light tan head. Round, candyish wafts of black cherry, dried plum, and grainy Crystal sweetness. Faint notes of acidity, wax, cedar and dry chocolate. Very alcoholic. Fuzzy carbonation. Soft body. Quick rush of Crystal malts and subtle metallic tendencies. Brief earthy hops are muffled by the residual sweetness and spicy alcohol. At first glance it’s tolerably malty, but quickly becomes overly sweet and one dimensional. Finishes cloyingly medicinal, leathery, and sharply alcoholic as the sweet malts struggle to find their way through the jumbled alcoholic mess. The aroma’s decent, but the lack of balancing hop character combined with copious levels of alcohol and unfermented sugars beckons it to be served ice cold. Otherwise, good luck conquering even half the bomber.

Dark amber coloured beer with no head. The aroma is light roasted and hop. Bitter taste with the alcohol failry dominant. I like it. The taste extraction capabilities of alcohol must not be underestimated.

strong alcohol aroma, great taste--looks like root beer; toffee whiskey taste, very smooth, very nice

Bottle: That's a BW? Has a kinda toffee/cookie dough(butter/sugar) familar fruity scent. Berkshire Lost Sailor IPA. Though I thought it was subtle overall. Nice dark orangey brown color. Little carbonation or head. Sweet and bitter with a high ABV warmth. Lite body for a barleywine(suprised when I saw the 12%)Roasted coffee/sour/soapy sort of creamy finish. The nose is so different than the body. Interesting, but better examples out there IMHO.

Very aromatic, hops and malt. More alcohol than its needed is mixed with rich malty body . Very full and big . Only at the end shows its better qualities, like nice roasted malt that is overpowered with alcohol.

This is a monster of a beer. Rich, flavorful and warming. I drank this on a warm day and still enjoyed it, but it would be better enjoyed on a cold, winter's day. Pours out to a dark ruby in the glass. Aroma is that of raisins, plums and fruit in general. Taste is explosive, but not overwhelming. Malt, hops and even a slight hint of licorice present. A very good beer.

Deep amber translucent almost opaque colour. Strong roasted caramel malt and vinous alcohol with a hints of liquorice and dried fruits aroma. Smooth slightly clinging palate. Seriously fortified vinous with coffee bean and chocolate flavours. Very warming. Would probably rate slightly higher from me if rated on a cold winters night as opposed to the tropical steamy Ottawan summers night of the WCC2003 party.
