4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Burnt caramel in color, moderate light beige foamy head, fairly nice lacing. Strong alcohol presense on the nose. Candied applies, sugared orange peel, chocolate covered rum balls, and dark pitted fruit also make up the aroma. Malty and bready up front, quite warming too, alcohol is noticeable but manageable. Candied fruit on the backside, somewhat sweet, with a citric bitterness that is fairly subtle. Touch of vanilla, figs, and dates on the finish. Big in body, mouthfeel seems fairly moderate tho. A bit of a twang after the finish, somewhat like raw alcohol. Good stuff, but maybe a bit too foward on the alcohol. While not bitter or harsh, a year or two will do this one some good me thinks. A big thanks goes out to Schroppfy, Jah Noth, and Santa Clark for sending me this stuff!!! I am really glad I ended up with multples of this one because due to unforseen circumstances I might not have had the opportunity to rate this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Waxed bottle to sniffer (2008 vintage; shared by alexsdad06). Looks good; a cloudy brown with light beige lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty with notes of dark fruit, caramel, and a touch of butter. Tastes like it smells, sans the butter, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel (especially for 15%!). Good beer.

12oz bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Hazy amber - brown color. Thin off-white head. Dots of lace. Big caramel and raisin in the nose, light sherry. Bigger body. Nice smoooth, more creamy texture. Lighter carbonation. Surprisingly easy to drink for 15%. Just a light warmth in the finish. I’ve had 12% beers that tasted much boozier. Nice moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Some bigger earthy hop, light graininess. Caramel. Very good barleywine.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle number 1393/1400. The color of blood when you stab a ninja in the liver with an off white head. Caramel malt and huge red wine aromas. Delicious. Huge red wine, followed by rich caramel malts, and finishes with a wonderful port like quality. Undercurrents of wood and vanilla. Great mouthfeel and body. This version was waxed and numbered. I have a feeling it was barrel aged.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz. bottle, sent from St. Fun (thanks a lot, Josh), pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with a small beige head. Strong nose brings out raisins, caramel and sherry upfront, with secondary notes of chocolate, cherry and booze. Flavour is rich and round, very malt-heavy, with loads of caramel, dark fruit (raisins and plum), some sherry-like liqueur, and just the perfect amount of sweetness. Now this is complex - so many layers of flavour, with a big, sticky, rich mouthfeel. The 15% alcohol is exceptionally well-worked in, with no burn or heat, just a warming effect. Barley wines usually fail to impress me much these days, but this is certainly an exceptional. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Opaque brown-black with thin bubbles that are gone immediately, no lace. Very still, no carbonation. The taste (and aroma) are neither an ould ale or a barleywine - mostly the taste is prunes and malt with a strong infusion of alcohol at the finish. Perhaps cellaring would improve the tasting experience. Presently, not very palatable.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Sampled at esbls. Lots going on in the aroma. Chocolate, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar. Ok, this is just weird. It needs a lot of time to age. It has no carbonation and tastes like jelly. Just odd.
