Aroma of cloves and ginger and cola. Appearance is a murky brown with a small tan head. Tastes is lots of clove, gingerbread, nutmeg. Some bitterness in the finish. Nice offering for a Christmas ale.

355ml bottle from Saveur Biere

Dark look with a small foam. Aroma is christmas like, notes of cardamom and cinnamon. Lot of different spices in flavour. Not really my thing or just totally wrong time for this beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark, opaque brown with some reddish notes. Small, brown head. The aroma is vanilla, toffee, cloves, cinnamon, and caramel. The flavor is very sweet, with a nice savory spice. Very low bitterness. Medium body, creamy, a little grainy, and slightly astringent. Overall, this is a very spice-forward and flavorful beer. The flavor is fair, but doesn’t live up to the promise of the initial aroma.

Bottle shared with my bro and dad. Aroma of molasses, caramel, and dark fruits. Pours dark brown with a small white head. Taste is sweet caramel, molasses, toffee, and a delicious malt finish. The spices don’t really shine but they certainly accent an amazingly sweet blend of malt flavors. Well done.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik shop. Pours dark, dark, brown with a whitish head. Leaves a fair amount of lacing. Get some of the spices on the nose. Tastes mostly of cinnamon and nutmeg on the tongue. Has a bit of an alcohol burn on the finish. Not my fave of the style.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, listed at 6.5%
The color is black, with creamy brownish head. Strong spicy aroma, at Least this is nutmeg and cinnamon (and not cassia). Good flavor of dark chocolate, roasted malt, with moderate but pleasant residual sweetness, and strong spicy character (nutmeg and liquorice). Although I don’t favor spiced beers, this blend with the dark chocolate is well achieved.
Pumpkin pie with chocolate frosting.

12 oz 2013 bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Pours dark brown with a short-lived tan head. Looks like a porter. Aroma: complex and lightly spiced compared to the flavor. Flavor: spicy with an iverload of clove. Allspice and nutmeg in more moderate amounts. Dark malts are largely masked by the spices. O: a spicy winter ale with well hidden ABV

Drinking it kind of late in the year. Poured with huge chunks. Won’t be finishing it because of that. Christmas nutmeg spiced aroma. Not bad smelling. Taste fine to. Dark cocoa taste with lots of cinnamon nutmeg flavors. The chunks is the only of putting thing

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 2 March 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, spicy nose with chocolate, spruce needles, juniper twigs, cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg. Malty, roasted, spicy taste with notes of chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, black rye bread and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite spicy. Nice one.

From bottle. Rich malty noses with raisin, biscuit, soy, alcohol and esters. Dark ruby brown clear with tan foamy lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation and light warming. Starts rich and sweet with roasted barley, caramel, licorice, and raw grain. Nice hop notes with warming spices, some carbonic tang. Mellow spicy finish with light weak after.
