12 oz. that seems to have a 2013 bottling date. Opaque dark brown with a small ring of bubbles. Aroma is at first dominated by allspice and clove. After a bit I discover there’s some mocha, smoke and cherry. Tastes of lightly tart blackberry, smoky meat, licorice, clove and wheat. Medium-heavy body is smooth with low-medium carbonation and has a nice balance. Really interesting and unique brew that may have benefited from spices being dissipated a bit in the year of aging.

Vestergaard (394) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - AUG 17, 2014
Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours clear, dark brown with a small, oily, off white head. Aroma is packed with sweet christmas stuff; clove, clove, clove, clove, clove, clove, sweet orange peel, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, dough, dark malts and vanilla. Taste has all of the same stuff, but is not as sweet, and fortunately has some hops to balance out this madness. Carb is mesium and alcohol is well hidden. Never have i had such a christmassy beer. Wow.

355 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is very spicy with nutmeg, some roastiness, biscuit and clove. Flavour of toasted malts, nutmeg, some metallic notes, biscuit, harsh grassy bitterness and grains. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. Harsh dry finish with unfortunately some more metallic off-flavours. Feels old. Drink this when it’s fresh.

Pour is a dark brown, almost black with an average tan head. Aroma is pretty much all holiday spice. Nutmeg, allspice and a little clove. Flavor is toffee and licorice with the nutmeg and other spices secondary. Finish is a bit of roasted malt maybe a wee bit of coffee and a little touch of the alcohol. I’m a sucker for a nice spiced winter warmer and this does not disappoint. Found in a bargain bin but it’s still holding up.
