COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
100% malted barley gives this classic ale a mild biscuit, toasted malt taste. This is a medium bodied beer with perfect balance of malt flavors. The color is a brilliant amber, while the aroma is slightly fruity and malty.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Moderate toasted and breadiness in the aroma and taste. A run-of-the-mill, but still good, amber.

12oz bottle I picked up at Total Wine McLean pours a murky, copper amber with a ring of white head that faded fast. Nose has a lot of malt, sticky caramel, some toast, a little biscuit, a little bit of raisin, some mild orange too. Flavor is a bit surprising because it hits with a fair amount of candy sugar and Belgian-esque yeast character, some bubblegum, a little anise, caramel, ripe banana, some root veg. Spritzy finish. Old bottle? Bad bottle? Just didn’t seem right.

pours hazy if not cloudy medium dark golden orange with a small light beige orange, little retention and lacing. spicy and fruity belgian yeast (!), almost off-rotten-fruits, peppery sweetish caramel and candied nuts, toasted specialy malts, some sweetness - brown sugar, metal, slightly ashy too. low carbonation, light body - oily, semi-sweet and spicy-metallic finish. average american belgian amber at best.

This beer was a very typical amber ale. Not much too it. The pour had a good color with a foamy head. Caramel and sugar in the nose and flavor.

12oz bottle to dark horse shaker. Malty biscuity flavor. Strange peppery finish from the yeast I assume.

12 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted bread, caramel, some mild earthy and citrus hops, some sweetness. This is not a style that really excites me, but this is not as good as most of their beers.

On tap at Global Brew. Pours a slightly hazy orange/amber with a decent but fairly thin head. Mild spice aroma. Taste is sweet caramel malt, spicy vegetal hop bitterness with even a bit of olive oil. Different, pretty good.

Bottled a decent while ago -- October 22nd 2013. Poured January 21st 2014. Poured into a shaker pint. Appearance: Pours a hazy as hell orange/brown sort of color. Only a bit of light gets through. Two finger head or so goes away after a few minutes, with only a bit of wispy foam on top after that. No lacing that I can see. Great color, but that’s it. Smell: Smells like a Wit or something. Has that banana and spice sort of aroma that a Wit or Hefe would offer. Slightly sour. Quite Belgian. Not what I was expecting. Doesn’t smell bad, but it’s strange coming from an Amber. Taste/feel: The banana and spice flavor is definitely there in the flavor as well. It drinks like a darker sort of Wit or Hefe. Fairly mild beer overall. Nice body on it with a good amount of carbonation as well. Drinkable. Not at all bitter. Slight tang on the finish from the yeast. Decent brew, but I can see why people would be disappointed in it, going in and expecting a beer that doesn’t taste like, well, spiced bananas. I actually enjoy this beer. I’m not a huge fan of Wits or Hefes, so those flavors blended with some "darker" flavors is nice. Interesting for the style. Good, not great.
