proc (343), Dearborn, Michigan, USA Jan 18, 2003 An excellent beer. Pours out to a cloudy amber in the glass with minimal head. Aroma is very light, with a faint yeast smell and malt as well. Taste. Here is where it shines. It has the wonderful malt taste prevelent with most ambers, but with a slight clove and spice taste associated with wheats. It finishes with a slightly sweet/spice to it that begs for another sip. It got better as it warmed up.
I will be buying this again. Yum. rowefam3 (70), kendallville, Indiana, USA May 19, 2007 Updated: Mar 5, 2008 I’m not a big fan of Belgian beers. This was Kind of weird. The earthy and pepper flavor is what made this different from most. Rerate: It’s been along time since The last try. This brew is outstanding. My favorite amber by far. Fruity aroma/flavor. Slick refreshing palate. Wonderful!!! jstraw (471), Oak Park, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2008 On tap at Jerry’s. Orange-amber with big, foamy tan head / Caramel and malt nose / Light body with some creamy hops adding a nice balance, and with decent finish / Flavors of burnt sugar, caramel, and sour malt / A very nice, mellow, creamy amber. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 17, 2004 Rusty orange color, softly clouded, firm and frothy finger high dusty whitish cap, keeps a good skim always present; lacing in moderate thin sheeting and strings. Aroma is fruity of lemon and pear and yeasty much like most pale Belgian ales. A bit bready and slightly spicy with lemon zest, white pepper, and clove. Taste follows suit, solidly spicy with pepper and clove, fairly zesty with a lemon spritz of peels, superb yeasty tones, great bready malts, fluffy and quite full body. Slightly dry finish with dry wood and yeast. One solid intrepetation of of hefe on steroids, I mean Belgian Pale. Good stuff. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 5, 2005 On tap at the brewery. Murky, slightly cloudy bronze-to-orange in color. Best smelling amber ever - wood chips, cedar chests, honey, maple and sweet caramel. Hell yes. Sweet hops flavor. Vanilla and clover blends with lemons and nectar to form an ideal session ale. Light, smooth and the most unique amber I’ve had to date.
